(joes pov)
I put the letter in the mailbox and grabbed a sharpie. I crossed the date off on my calendar. 5 days until I come home to see Demi.

Honestly, I've loved all the charity work I've been doing here. Most army people just have to kill, and defend. But my part of the job is to actually help these people. No seeing my buddies die, no chances of me dying, none of the unspeakable.

I was just ready to go home though. Demi has 3 weeks until her due date, which means I shouldn't miss Tristan coming. As long as HE stays on schedule.

I sighed a big long sigh as I touched the picture of Demi and her pregnant belly she sent me on my poster board. I was t there to do paternity pictures with her.

I also looked at the ultrasound I had taped to the board. I couldn't wait to get to hold my son. I'm ready for my family to be together.

I felt a pat on my back. It was my captain. "listen private, no sighs here. you'll be there soon enough. and that little boy is gonna be so proud of his daddy. you're gonna be his hero." I said smiling at me.

i shook my head. "the real heroes are the ones that don't come home. and my son is going to realize that." I informed my captain.

he nodded at me in approval.

sorry it's short I'm so tired.
