chapter 22

(Demi's pov)

I felt so relieved after reading joes letter. the last few months, we'd never really wrote anything to one another besides about how much we missed each other and pictures and details about the baby. this was the first time he'd actually told me a little about what was going on there.

it was relieving to know, that he's not in as much danger. I was also glad to learn, he's actually enjoying his time there, and helping do something important. as much as I wanted him home with me and Tristan, im glad kids over in Afghanistan have him watching over them.

I sat down on my couch, after writing a letter back to joe. and rubbed my belly, feeling my son kick. "hey buddy, remember. just 27 more sleeps until daddy comes home. then we'll all be together again baby." i told him.

I was feeling very lonely. I suddenly just burst into tears. im not sure if it was the hormones, or just the fact that my husband is halfway across the country and I can't see him. but I was feeling alone.

I picked up and called one person I knew I could always call when I needed them.

"hello?" Selena's voice was so sweet over the phone. "sel. i know it's late." I sobbed. "but I-i need you." i choked on the phone.

immediently, I could hear her getting up and grabbing her keys. "okay dem. don't worry, I'm heading out the door now. and im gonna stay on the phone with you til I get there okay? now tell me whats going on." she said.

I then proceeded to tell her about how I missed joe, and im scared he's not gonna be here when Tristan is born, and how im so lonely here.

then I heard a knock on the door. "hold on Lena, there's someone at the door." i said going to open it.

I then saw Selena's face as I opened the door and before I knew it she was embracing me in a warm hug. God I was so lucky to have her.

"im sorry demi. I really am. but you just hang in there. you're a strong girl. he'll be here soon enough. and then you're going to be the perfect family. you're gonna be a great mom, and you're gonna get through this all." she told me.

I hugged her even tighter and sobbed into her shoulder.

after a while of that we pulled away. "I brought u some stuff." she said holding up a big McDonald's bag & bag of DVDs, popcorn, & junk food from the video store.

"God selena, you're the best!" i told her. "what movies did you get?" I asked excitedly.

"high school musical 1,2, & 3. plus Carrie, Indicious, The Notebook, & The best of me." she said. "and I got popcorn, brownies, Hershey's, potato chips, and pickle chips, because they're your favorite. oh & in the McDonald's bag is 4 mcdoubles and 2 large fries. plus pies." she said.

I dried my eyes. "we are getting SO fat!" i said.

Selena giggles and rubbed my belly. "hope you got enough room in there buddy." she said giggling.
