(Demi's pov)

"Demi," joe said. we were laying in the back of his truck. "what?" I asked facing him. the last 3 months had been so magical. I didn't want summer to end, but I know it had too. "promise we something?" he asked with his arm around me. "anyting." I said, and I truly meant it.

"promise me, you'll write me letters everyday. & you'll wait for me." he asked. "I will" I nodded. "and, I promise you Demi that this is gonna work. I'm never going to give up on you. or us." he told me. I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"and 1 last promise." he said. he sat up and I did the same. "this is the hardest one to do. but u promise me...if something happens, and I don't make it back, you'll move on. and find someone so much better." I frowned. "don't talk like that." I said stroking his cheek. "you're coming back. I promise u are." I said to him. the thought of him not coming back was unbearable. "I love you so much." he said as he kissed my lips.

3 days later, here I was. dropping him off at the airport. "just remember baby, 3 little months and I'll be back for vacation. just 3." he promised me. I nodded. tears fell down my face. "awe babe, don't cry." he said holding me close. people stared, and people cried.

eventually we had to pull away. and I stood as he grabbed his bags and walked away in his uniform. even after he left I stood there for hours. just crying. I fell to the ground in tears.

"ma'am," the attendant asked. "the airport is closing. we're going to have to ask u to leave." I nodded and grabbed my keys.

I now have a new respect for army families.
