SOLIS'S stomach wanted to turn from Hayland's subtle touches and extra sweetness. All that she wanted was to disappear completely, never to be seen again in the human eye. It overwhelmed her entire being and she was having difficulty breathing.

She wanted to get away but she's too polite to do it in front of their family. She had no choice but to endure it painfully and even the shards that Hayland gave her whenever he would say his I love you to her in front of their parents hurt her innermost. It's like slicing a portion of her soul.

She refused to believe it fully. Now that things have turned against her liking, she can't fully trust Hayland's words from his lips anymore. It's like everything that he utters is all lies. At some point, maybe he's telling the truth but still, Hayland is a liar, a cheater, and a destroyer.

She would also be lying if she didn't admit to herself that labeling her beloved like that didn't take a large portion of her heart, because it did. She loved him but he took it for granted. It's against her will to somehow disrespect him but what can she do at this very moment?

"So, how did the adoption process go?"

It was Agatha Clarkson, Hayland's mother. Despite being in her fifties, she still looks elegant with her signature short wavy hair which is the color of the night. She loves spoiling herself and getting herself pretty. Gladly, she's back to her perfect shape after recovering from the loss of her husband from brain cancer six years ago.

Hayland swallowed as he smiled nervously. "Uh, we are actually—"

"We actually canceled it," Solis cuts him red-handed.

Their parents gasped and even Hayland's eyes widened in disbelief. "Love..."

She reached for her husband's shoulder. "Hey, we've already talked about this, right?"

Her voice was too soft for Hayland's liking. This made the raven-haired man grit his teeth. Solis never spoke to him about that and it clenches his heart more. Before, Solis would always ask for his opinion and she would never decide on her own.

"But—but I thought..." Hayland sighed as he looked into his beloved woman carefully.

She then pouted, her usual reaction when Hayland is against her. She really knows how to get him. "I thought we've already agreed about this? Come on, love..."

"Hays." Agatha's voice broke their little tension. "Don't force her into things that she doesn't want to."

Solis looked at them guiltily. If she'd be honest, she was ready for an adoption not until she learned about the fact that Hayland cheated on her. It's now useless. She made up convincing excuses to make it easier—believable even.

"Mom, one moment, I thought I was ready but all of a sudden... I'm not. I don't think I can be a good Mom, not just yet. Not when I don't even have a good time for myself," she explained.

"Dear, it's okay. It's a big responsibility. I wanted you two to become a responsible parent someday."

It was Melissa, her Mom who looked classy in her nude knee-high dress, embroidered with sequence and beads on its sleeves. She looks younger than fifty-two if anyone will say. Her straight black hair is curled neatly and for her, her Mom looks very pretty.

Melissa is a loving mother and a good wife. She doesn't understand why her father would do such an awful thing to them and even choose his woman over his own family. But she thought she now understood why.

Regardless if you're good or almost to perfection, if a particular someone close to your heart is too vulnerable to be hooked up easily, they will end up doing shenanigans behind your back. They will eventually drop you because you are not yet enough for them. They are craving for more, forgetting all about their promises.
