DAYS and weeks passed and Solis always came home late after that huge incident that happened at Hayland's office that Friday afternoon. He could do nothing but watch his wife drown in her alcoholic beverages.
He was worried as hell that Solis might taint her reputation or that some students would see her in her wasted state which thankfully, didn't happen. Mara's always there to aid her and sometimes the two girls just get wasted in Mara's place with Minerva only remaining sober.
In Solis's words, all that she wanted was an escape from the world even if it was just for a little while. Drinking for her is her only resort for that. Whenever she does, she will automatically forget about Hayland's mistake. Surprisingly, she can act like nothing in front of him.
On the other hand, Hayland is troubled because every time Solis is drunk, she is being so extra. Although he'll admit that it is to his advantage, he's not completely happy about it. Of course, he did like how Solis would cling to him as if her life depended on him but he couldn't be satisfied with it since he knew that Solis was only doing that because she was drunk.
He is trying his best to talk sense towards his wife but the latter wouldn't even budge. Accordingly, seeing him every day is like torture to her. She wanted to leave just like what Mara and Minerva had suggested but she couldn't.
Not when she can't literally leave the person who just killed her and crushed her into pieces. Not when she still wanted to fix what they had. She saw it and she really wanted to make it work out until that Friday afternoon came.
She chuckles before asking for another shot from the worried Minerva. She even lost count of how many shots she had downed. All that she knows is that the liquor in her taste buds tastes sweet from time to time.
She ended up asking and asking and asking for more. She burned all her money from alcohol and so as her throat. When the time comes, she will not be surprised anymore if she has damaged her liver out of too much drinking.
"Another one, please..." she asked once again, words are incoherent.
"No, that's enough." A stern voice spoke that made Minerva and Mara sigh in relief as soon as they both recognized Hayland. He's still in his corporate attire and he looks wasted with his disheveled look and messy hair, added his tired face but he still came into Mara's place for his wife.
"What? No! Give me one!" Solis whines in protest but Hayland's firm grip is enough to stop her from squirming.
She attempted to glare at him but when Hayland's face came closer to hers, she hitched a breath. Her heart thuds and she blames the alcohol because all that she wanted to do was to give him a peck and so she did.
Taken aback with a flushed face, Hayland slowly smiled. "Love, let's go home and—"
"I want one. Just one last time, please?" she pleads with her doe eyes.
He just gave her a forehead kiss. "It's late. I can make a hot chocolate once we're home."
She whines, clearly frustrated. "No... I don't want that—"
"Enough! We're heading home," Hayland declared, looking at Mara and Minerva apologetically.
"I'm glad you came, Hays. We can't stop her. She's throwing things and she's asking for more. She got a lot." Mara robs her aching temples like she's done enough.
Minerva nods, grinning. "Yeah. She's quite a handful. Deal with it yourself. Brace your patience, dude."
Hayland tried to smile. "Thank you for looking out for her, girls. I owe you once again. I don't know what I would do without you two."
