IT'S NOW midnight while Solis tries to sneak for a glass of water only to be surprised by Hayland's figure in the kitchen. The raven-haired man suddenly lifts his head with his weary orbs.
Solis sighed as she walked passed him and opened the fridge, drank water from her tumbler, and decided that she could just keep her tumbler in her room so she wouldn't sneak out again and find the last person that she wanted to see.
She's about to go when a strong and veiny hand grips on her wrist. She eyed who the culprit was with hatred and she was sure that Hayland felt it but the latter was too determined to let her stay and she wanted to chuckle.
She dared to lock her eyes on his only to regret what she did. She ended up looking at him like she wanted to caress his face. Hayland looks so stressed. She's tempted, she's now on the edge to do something unforgivable for herself until the images of him and his woman flash – that made her wake up from bewilderment.
"Let go!" she demanded with her stern yet croaked voice.
"Can we talk?" Hayland tugged her closer with his deep and gentle voice. It feels like a lullaby that she's sure will lull her to sleep.
However, she did snap. "What else we're going to talk about this time? Have you forgotten? I forbid you to get anywhere closer to me!"
"Just for a while. I promise I won't do anything that will upset you anymore. Please, I want to make it right with you. Please, give me a chance," Hayland pleads.
"You want to know something, my dear husband?" Solis started.
Hayland is quiet as if he's waiting for her to say something or waiting for her to diss him again. She cracked a smile and looked at him full of mockery. She's even surprised that all the softness she felt earlier was replaced with pain and disgust.
"You've been cheating on me for three weeks. Fine. But, let me remind you, that three weeks is enough as a chance for you to make it right. One mistake is enough chance for you to make up that unforgivable mistake but then your bastard self is too complacent—"
"Love, please hear me out—"
"No! Hear me out and stop getting into my words when I am saying something! At least, give me some respect." She almost yells at him. She hates it. She hates it very much because that's the last thing that she wants but she can't help it.
Hayland swallowed nervously. "I-I'm listening."
"It's funny of you to ask for a chance. The moment you made that mistake the first time, you still have a chance to be clean in front of me. However, you seem like enjoying your time with the temptress. You even made it a pattern—a choice even."
"I will never forget the fact that you even brought her home. That very moment, Hays, you've already lost your chance on me. For the record, you disrespected me and the love that I gave you unconditionally." Her voice was for finality.
Hayland looks away, looking as dejected as ever. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for ruining everything."
"If you really wanted to make things right inside this household, keep your hands away from me!" Solis hissed and grabbed back her wrist.
"Solis, I know what I did was awful but I just wanted to be honest with you." Hayland bit his bottom lip as he paused, swallowing hard. "I never made love to her. Not even once. I swear, we almost did it but I refused. I can't."
Solis raised a brow as she almost laughed. "You two almost did it? Why refuse when you've got all the nerve to make out with the temptress? What do you say when I also did the same?"
