Complicated mate

Chapter Twenty Six

Emily's POV ・o・

The sound of mum and I laughing , filled the whole kitchen . We had already had dinner , and I was done washing the last plate , while mom stood next to me drinking a glass of milk .

" Okay that was a good one mom ", I said , laughing .

" Yeah , and you know what , I was the only child of my mom , who learnt how to actually cook - I mean the good dish ", my mom said , and we burst out laughing again .

" Well maybe you are only so good at cooking because you were your mom's only child ", I said , and my mom eyerolled .

" Or maybe I'm just a natural when it comes to cooking ", my mom said , and i yawned . It wasn't a fake yawn , it was actually quite genuine , because I was really tired after a somewhat stressful day .

" Hun , you look tired ", my mom said , almost as if she saw through me .

" Yeah , I'd just got bed ", I said

" Ohk um , but your un...... ", My mom made to say but I caught her short .

" Mum , can you let it be , maybe we'd talk about that tomorrow , I really want to sleep , good night mom ", I said , and my mom shrugged .

" Okay , if you say so ", my mom said giving in . " Good night ", she added , and I blew her a kiss and ran upstairs to my room .

I threw my self onto the bed , and I turned to my side , and closed my eyes , getting ready to sleep , when my phone suddenly beeps .

Geez ! What a bad time . I took it and I saw I had a call . It was Tara .

' why do you have such a bad timing ', I said to Tara , after I had picked up the call .

' oh sorry ! Were you in the middle of something with Leo ? ' Tara asked , and I eyerolled .

' nooooo , infact I'm at home ", I said .

' ohk , if you say so , but if you were in the middle of something with your boyfriend , then you know you can tell your bestie right ? ' Tara said , and I couldn't help but wonder how I got such an annoying bestie .

' seriously Tara , I said I wasn't in the middle of something with Leo , moreover if I was , then I can't tell my bestie , because she'd ask me lots of questions , and possibly taunt me about it for the rest of my life ', I said , and I heard Tara chuckle .

' what are besties for ', Tara said .

' definitely not to taunt each other ', I said and we both burst out laughing .

' so why did you call ', I asked .

' I have news for you , but first I'd like to know how your movie date went ', Tara said , and I sighed .

' is everything alright ? You don't sound like your day was fun filled , did anyone taunt you or say something to upset you , just tell me , and I'd make the person beg for their life ', Tara said , and I felt lucky to have a concerned bestie like her . She was actually the main reason I was putting up with Hayley's threats , just because I didn't want to see Tara hurt when Jay and Jess are seperated .

I wish I could tell her all I was going through , but I couldn't . It was all for her own good .

' um ... It went well , I'm just a lil tired ', I said .

' well shake it off gurll , you have to give me the exact details of how your movie date went ', Tara said .

' fine um..... You know Ray's mate - Mae ', I said .

' yeah , yeah , what happened with her ? ' she asked curiously .

' well she makes amazing cupcakes , we stuffed ourselves with cupcakes made by her . After our movie ended , we had a food fight ', I said .

' oh , that sounds fun . And let me guess , at the end of the fight , Leo took you to his room and licked the food off you ', Tara said , and memories of how I had pushed away from Leo crossed my mind . And all of a sudden , I felt guilty again . I tried to shake off that feeling of guilt , but it didn't seem to go away . I had a really valid reason for doing what I did , but I just didn't know how to explain it .

Maybe I was just scared of giving myself to Leo and then getting a mate that wasn't him , and what if my mate wouldn't want me because I was already taken by someone else . To some people this wouldn't make any sense , but to a middle class werewolf , with a seemingly weak wolf , it made a lot of sense .

' eewwwww , no ', I said

' I didn't expect that reaction , it sounded pretty romantic to me in my head , I wonder how you thought it was disgusting ', Tara said , and I couldn't help but facepalm .

' well what was the need for that , when I could have easily taken a shower , which I did , and I got to wear one of his shirts afterwards , and he said I could have it ', I said .

' omggggg that sounds way more romantic ', She said excitedly .

' and then things happened and other things happened , then he took me back to the lake , then I walked home ", I said .

' seriously , just tell me all that happened , and why did he drop you by the lake , instead of your house ', Tara asked .

' I can't tell you all that happened , I'm tired , I need to sleep . Oh and I'm not ready for him to meet my mom yet , that's why I chose the lake ', I said .

' ohhhhh , I have more questions , but I'd let you go to sleep , but before you go , I was thinking , can we have a bff hangout tomorrow , after the mass at the cathedral ', Tara asked .

' thank you ! Oh and about the hangout , I think that sounds like an amazing idea , but where would it be ? ' I asked curiously .

' you'd be going for the morning mass right ? So after the mass , we'd go home and change , then I'd come over to your place , and we'd go , but I can't tell you where we're going , you'd find out tomorrow ', Tara said .

' ohk ', I said ' oh and you mentioned something about good news earlier on ', I added .

' yesssss , I almost forgot . Guess what ? ' Tara said , and I was already impatient .

' please can you just tell me ', I asked .

' that sounds boring , but okay . So today , while I went out on my morning walk , I saw Robert and Ben , seemed like they came over to see a friend or something , and Robert was actually staring at me ', Tara said , and I couldn't think of a response to her .

' ohk , that's good , even though I had expected you to say you won some money or you passed a test ', i said sarcastically .

' oh please , having Robert stare at me is way better , do you know how long I've had a mini crush on that guy ', Tara said , and what else should I have expected from my dear best friend .

' maybe your fight with Allison , just got you at the top girl board , I mean you're not bad looking afterall , plus you're quite daring ', I said , and she chuckled .

' yup . You better go to sleep now missy , See ya tomorrow ', Tara said .

' bye ', I said and hung up . I put my phone on the nightstand and went to sleep not long after .
