A Housekeeper's Secrets

New Hire.

Affluence Hotel & Casino
Jay's POV:

I speed walked down the hallway and I finally made it to the double doors.

As I abruptly pushed them open, all eyes fell on me and I became the center of attention. I felt a cool draft hit my brown skin that caused goosebumps to arise. The air was dense. An uncomfortable feeling set in.

Awkwardness. It's the last thing I wanted on my first day.

"You're late..." I heard a husky, masculine voice say from the front of the conference room as my stomach dropped.

"I'm sorry." I said softly as I closed the doors and I took a seat at one of the tables nearby.

He watched every move I made, and he shook his head afterwards. My boss is now dismayed. This is not good.

"From this point forward, there will be a zero tolerance policy on tardiness unless it's an emergency. I need this shit to be tight. I am running a business here and I expect what my reputation exudes. Understand?" He asked everyone in an authoritative tone as they shook their heads yes.

His eyes fell on me again and I looked away from embarrassment.

"Girl, he does not play. You'll learn that soon enough." One of the housekeepers next to me said as I sighed.

"Yea... I'm seeing that."

"Are you ok?" She asked out of concern.

"Yea... I just had a doctor's appointment this morning and it ran over." I replied.

"I hope everything is ok. I remember you from orientation. You're Jayde right?" She asked.

I shook my head yes and we turned our attention back to our boss.

"I want to welcome the new hires. You made it through the screening process and now you're officially a member of our staff." He said as he adjusted his tie.

This is my first time seeing him in person. I was interviewed and hired by another man, who is the executive of the housekeeping staff.

I won't lie... even though he's intimidating and callous, our boss is very handsome.

"As you know, this is the highest ranking hotel in Miami Beach. Affluence Hotel & Casino will continue to stay that way because my staff will do everything in their power to ensure that our guests keep coming back." He said as he kept everyone's attention.

He has an alpha ambience that radiates. Anyone that walks into a room with him automatically knows that he's in command. His suit was crisp and he was very well groomed. My eyes gazed down to his fingers.

Nails clean and cut.

I could see the tattoos on his hand, and it looked like more were peaking through the bottom of his sleeve.

"Now, I need everybody to continue to work together. My new housekeepers... I need you to learn the ropes and learn them fast. I have thousands of customers that book with the hotel everyday. You will always be busy. I expect a lot from you." He said as his eyes fell on me once again.

I immediately looked down at my fingers and I tapped the back of my heel lightly under the table.

"Alright, I got business to take care of, so thank you everybody for attending the meeting. Time to get to work." He said buttoning the bottom of his suit jacket and preparing to walk off.

He had a security guard with him and another guy in a suit accompanying him.

"Good morning Mr. Brown" I heard one of the female housekeepers say as he said good morning to her with barely a smile to showcase.
