A Housekeeper's Secrets

Complacency.

Jayde's POV:

I finished the dishes after I cooked myself a meal. Chris left plenty of groceries for me to choose from.

As I finished, I came to the living room and continued my search for a movie or show to watch.

"Hmmmm... a comfort show or something new?" I asked myself aloud as I browsed through Netflix.

"Ehh... I may have to check Hulu." I said aloud to myself once more.

I got sad as I thought about Chris. He always finds us good stuff to watch on tv. I miss him dearly.

I know exactly what to put on...

After a few moments, I heard one of the main character's voices pick up where Chris and I left off.

"I saw gay, so I said gay! That ain't bullying! That's an astute observation!" Riley shouted as I shook my head and laughed to myself.

If I ever want a good laugh, I watch Boondocks.

I curled up on the couch with Chris' blanket. I pulled it closer to my face and I inhaled his scent.

Oh, how I wish he was here with me.

Suddenly, a sound was made that knocked me out of my trance.

The air became dense... time froze...

A bad feeling in my gut arose as I felt the presence of a man...

"You know... this shit is all your fault." I heard them speak as my heart dropped into my stomach.

Does Chris' security system not work?? Cause the math ain't mathing.

"How did you get in here!?" I asked as I scanned the room for something to protect myself with.

One of Chris' spare guns are in the bedroom and the other one is under the peninsula in the kitchen.

Both are too far away and no one is here to protect me.

"Ever since you came around, everything has gone to shit." Lorenz said as I shook my head no.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I said as he pulled out a gun.

He scratched the back of his head and spoke.

"First, Carlos... then me? I magically get thrown out after we have an interaction. I now know that you and that nigga are together and you're the reason this shit has happened." He said as I heard him cock the gun back.

"Lorenz don't do this! I don't even know you. If you do this, it's no coming back from it." I said as my heart raced and goosebumps rose to the surface of my skin.

"Now, my ass is about to go to fuckin' prison cause you sabotaged shit I had planned. I had a way out and you fuckin' ruined it!" He shouted as I flinched a little from his tone.

I wish Chris was able to see this on the cameras or something. But, he's so busy that I don't even know if he's able to see this right now.

I don't even know what to do.

"Yo' ass gone pay." Lorenz said as he aimed it at me.

"Chris will come for you... are you prepared for that?" I asked as I raised my hands surrendering.

Moments flashed across my mind as I thought about Chris.

His smile, his laugh, his voice... His cologne.

When I first got to the hotel... when we had a stand off. All the way to us getting closer... our first date.

The way he holds me and the way that he said I would see him again.
