And I didn't think this could happen.
Even if I was the one leaving.
Even if it was the right choice.
I thought you would stay with me in some way—
like a tattoo under the skin,
like a stain of red wine on white cloth
that refuses to disappear completely.
But there was nothing.
No ache.
No regret.
No trace of what I thought would break me.
It was as if the years beside you
had quietly erased themselves
the moment I turned away.
How is that possible?
Why does it feel like my heart
has nothing left to say?
Am I supposed to feel broken after leaving?
Would it be better to feel broken after leaving than this nauseating nothingness?
