What does moonlight sound like?
Is it the wind still carrying something it refused to forget?
She wondered, looking from the river of her soul,
knowing the moon was a place she didn't know.

Does moonlight sound like love?
Like two people pretending the world is small enough to fit between their hands,
while it quietly fractures into all their plans.

Does moonlight sound like the sea?
Or the secrets it keeps?
Like old siren stories dissolving into silence,
and creatures that never learned how to leave the waters.

Does moonlight sound like dreams?
The kind you wake up from with your mouth still forming their shape.
Or like tears that don't arrive as sadness,
but unfold into madness.

Does moonlight sound like laughter?
The kind that doesn't belong to anyone,
but echoes through people's hearts
like something remembered after it departs.

Or is moonlight just a whisper,
like an arrow released from its quiver?

No.

Moonlight is not a sound.

It is the moment your thoughts stop translating reality into meaning,
and you realize the voice you've been chasing
was never outside you—
but already within your soul,
asking you to keep going on.
