I'll rise
like the sun does every day.
I'll rise
even if the world collapses on my shoulders.
I'll rise
even if there are knives still left behind my back.
I'll rise
even if my heart forgets how to hold itself together.
I'll rise
even if I am only fragments
learning how to stay.
I'll rise
Because if I was made to fall, then I was made to stand up a thousand times more.
Yes—I'll rise.
Not because it is easy,
but because something inside me
refuses to stay down.
