I was inspired by Fireslash97's Halo X Male odst reader. so I thought might make my own. This story takes places during Reach all the way up to Halo 4. cause we don't speak about Halo 5.
The Pillar of Autumn had barely escaped the destruction of Reach by making a random slipspace under the Cole protocol. To safeguard and protect the Inner Colonies and Earth, all UNSC vessels or stations must not be captured with intact navigation databases that may lead Covenant forces to human civilian population centers. If any Covenant forces are detected the following measures have to be initiate
1. Activate selective purge of databases on all ship-based and planetary data networks.
2. Initiate triple-screen check to ensure all data has been erased and all backups neutralized.
3. Execute viral data scavengers.
4. If retreating from Covenant forces, all ships must enter Slipstream space with randomized vectors NOT directed toward Earth, the Inner Colonies, or any other human population center.
5. In case of imminent capture by Covenant forces and boarders, all UNSC ships MUST self-destruct. Violation of this directive will be considered an act of TREASON and pursuant to UNSC Military law articles JAG 845-P and JAG 7556-L, such violations are punishable by life imprisonment or execution.
The Pillar of Autumn slowly drifted through the blackness of space headed towards the planet of Threshold. Orbiting the plant was a a giant ring like structure of unknow design. Three longsword fighters flew around outside on patrol reconning the area.

On the bridge of the Autumn Captain Keyes gazes out the bridge's front windows, possibly looking for any signs of their enemies while talking to Cortana.
"Cortana, all I need to know is did we lose them?" asked Captain Keyes
"I think we both know the answer to that." replied Cortana while Captain Keyes sighed.
"We made a blind jump. How did they—" asked Captain Keyes
"Get here first? The Covenant ships have always been faster. As for tracking us all the way from Reach...at light speed, my maneuvering options were limited." said Cortana while Keyes begins pacing around, looking at viewscreens. Crew members he approaches stop to salute before returning to their patrols.
