Chapter 12: The Truth and Reconciliation

3rd person pov

"The enemy has captured Captain Keyes, and are holding him aboard one of their cruisers, the Truth and Reconciliation. The ship is currently holding position approximately three hundred meters above the other end of this plateau." said Cortana while Echo 419 began to land in the area out of sight from the enemy.

"So how do we get inside the ship if it's in the air? The Corps issued me a rifle, not wings." said a marine.

"There's a Gravity Lift that ferries troops and supplies between the ship and the surface. That's our ticket in." said Staff Sergeant Parker.

"Once we get inside the ship, I should be able to lock on to the tracking signal from Captain Keyes' neural implants." said Cortana.

"Everybody out!" said a marine.

"Hit it Marines, go go go! The Corps ain't payin' us by the hour!" said Sergeant Parker. The Marines, Y/n, Balto and the Chief head forward.

"Stick to the higher ground on the right. We should be able to recon the Covenant position without being spotted. I'm detecting Covenant Stationary Guns near the next pass. I recommend using your Sniper Rifle to take out the gunners while I call for Marine support." said Cortana.

 "Get ready to move in to support us, Sergeant. The Master Chief is going to covertly take out as many of the Covenant as he can. Don't open fire until you hear the enemy return fire on us. That should let us keep the element of surprise." Cortana added.

Master Chief took a sniper position on the higher ground reconning the position when he notice Y/n down below.

"Wait what is Y/n doing?" Cortana asked. The master Chief watched through his scoop to see what Y/n was doing.

Like a shadow Y/n stealthy and silently took out the Covenant dealing with the sleeping grunts was Balto's role while Y/n snuck up behind a jackal covered it's mouth and sliced his throat then pulling the dead body into the shadows before getting behind a elite that was walking by him and got on his back and sliced his neck open. Y/n had about single handily took out the Covenant like he and Balto where the grim reaper. 

"Not bad." said Cortana.

"Area secure move up." said Y/n before the marines moved in to the area. Master Chief walked up to Y/n and nodded his head and they took point moving up the slope.

"Stop. Motion tracker shows movement around the next bend." said Cortana

"We're ready to advance as soon as you call for us, Cortana." said Sergeant Parker Y/n took out his sniper rifle and lined up his shot and took out the grunt that was on the turret  and a jackal that was walking near by on top of the hill. A few grunts ran over to see what was going on before Y/n dropped them. Chief and the marines moved up and engaged a few elites and grunts which where no problem. The group moved up the slope while a elite was moving down it  but Y/n dropped the elite making the body fall off the side of the slope and rejoined Chief.

"Covenant forces detected up ahead. The path up on the left should let us sneak up around." said Cortana.

"We'll hang back while you get into position, Chief." said Sergeant Parker.

"Chief? Balto and I will take the left side you go up the middle with the marines." Said Y/n moving from shadow to shadow like a phantom dropping two jackals before they knew what hit them.
