The large mansion was abuzz with activities, twenty cars were parked outside it's pristine white walls and egyptian styled columns. It was late morning and the sunday energy was far from dissipating. Ida walked gracefully from her study down the artwork lined hallways in a pristine red gown that flowed on the floor, she was everybody regal. She walked to the entrance of the dining hall of her mansion with her mother and brother following side by side.
She could hear the chatter coming from the Doors. the hall as she approached the room's doors. She chuckled, her people were never known for liking the quiet after all and brother did she but it was nice to have things quiet down once in a while.
The door man bowed with a large smile, "good day ma."
"Hello, Mr Etin, how are you doing today?" her voice was clear and melodic, it seemed to bring a song of joy whenever she spoke.
"Fine ma," he bowed and pointed at the door, "are you ready ma?" Ida glanced at the reassuring smiles on her mother and brother's faces behind her then turned to the door man and nodded. The door man knocked on the large mahogany double doors and opened them up.
"The pope Ida and her retainers," an attendant cried as she walked into the room with a smile on aes. They made a pathway for her to the head of the thirty seater conference-like table.
Ida walked to the head seat, almost identical to all the others but with a bit of gold trimming here and there. She never liked the bulky on her dad used, there was no need to be so imposing at a family dinner.
She smiled as the attendants came forward to open the bottles of champagne and fill everyone's flutes. She raised her glass up, "good morning everyone. Welcome to this year's state of the family meeting, I propose a toast to our unity and increasing strength."
The group cheered and raised their glasses before putting the flutes to their mouths. Ida sat down and motioned for everyone else to do same, "the first thing today I'd love to address is our finances, everyone here is a representative of each family branch, I would like you to pass your financial records to the nearest attendants."

The meeting lasted well until night time till the guests finally had to disperse. Ida walked into her bedroom suite massaging her temple, she needed sleep but one thing was etched on the thirty five year old mother's brain, "my baby," she beamed as she walked into the room adjacent to hers, the three year old was fast asleep hugging his favorite blanket.
She walked over to her room and changed out of the royal ball gown with a sigh of relief as stretched out her limbs. She changed her clothes and couldn't help but be joyful, the simpler things in life called shorts and oversized T-shirts were the lord's goodness on earth manifesting. She laid on her bed and tried to sleep, she would have a busy day tomorrow after all.
Ten minutes passed and the woman had hardly moved an inch towards sleeping. She groaned and checked her bedside clock, ten thirty. She rolled out the sheets and stood up. She walked to the window and stared out the night sky. It was one of those nights were she wished the bed wasn't so lonely. She grinned as an idea popped in her head and walked out of her room to the adjoining one.
She smiled as she cracked the door to her son's room open. She slipped into the room and lay down on his bed before pulling him into her embrace, "if only your dad was here to see how big you've gotten my little munchkin," she held him tight and a lone tear fell from her eyes.
She closed her eyes and got lost in the world of dreams. She would once again forget her position for the night and exist as Ida, a mother and nothing more.
The next morning, she woke up to the sight of the little man pushing on her bosoms lightly trying to escape from her vice grip, she closed her eyes back and grinned, "try all you want my little warrior but your mom has only been bested by one man," she chuckled triumphantly, "and you have a long way ahead of you till you surpass him."
