"Congratulations, Mr Nzekwue," the doctor said as he ticked off the last box on his checklist, "you're all healed up and ready to go."

Okonkwo sat and stared at the floor, he wasn't really listening to what the doctor said. He hadn't asked him how he felt today and it felt odd in a way. It had been two weeks since the fight, he didn't know if he was happy his body was recovering quickly due to adaptation or if he was horrified. He sighed and rubbed his head, a lot of hair had grown over the weeks. It felt odd not being clean shaven as usual. He wondered if he'd still look badass wearing his skull cap.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up.

"You're going to be alright Marley, just give it time," Okonkwo smiled in response but he wasn't too hopeful. He hadn't done much school so what exactly we're his job prospects?

Okonkwo gave the doctor a sad smile, "thank you," he chuckled dryly, "I won't be able to pay for your services anymore so we won't be seeing each other for a very long time at least."

"I guess you're right," the doctor chuckled, he gave a finger salute, "well I better be on my way."

The door closed, then opened again. The doctor poked his head into the room, "also, your ride should be arriving in an hour, Mr D sends his regards."

Okonkwo sighed and stood up from the bed. He stretched his limbs and clenched his fists. He was almost in total control of his fists again. He walked to his rooms bathroom and washed up. The perks of fighting for someone like Mr D seemed to be endless.

He got dressed and took his phone out of the bed side drawers, he flipped through his call log, "I wonder if she'd pick up," his hands hovered over her name. He tapped the call icon after staring for a while, "Even if we no longer have a future, it would be nice not to have to stay in a empty house today," he whispered to himself as the call beeped, "busy, I should just send a text."

He rubbed his head and pulled out the envelope he'd received from Mr D the day before. He wasn't supposed to open it till he got home. He gathered the rest of his stuff and put them in the bag Cynthia had left behind for the little provisions she'd bought for his stay. He made the bed and sighed.

The hallway was a myriad of sounds he didn't want to acknowledge, he walked to the stairs in his bubble of silence and went to the ground floor. He sat at the reception counting the minutes down till his ride got to the hospital.

An old man he knew all too well walked into the waiting area. Okonkwo picked his bag and walked to the exit with a smile on his face, "good afternoon papa so you we're the one assigned to give me my final ride as a part of the group," Okonkwo winked at the sharply dressed old man. His dressing was one of the the things Okonkwo liked about him.  The old man skilled fondly.

The two men walked in silence to the black B.M.W Papa had come in. Papa opened the back door for Okonkwo but the younger man refused to get in.

"Today I'm not higher than you in anyway so I'll sit right beside you and you won't protest it," Okonkwo grinned, the old man hardly said anything but they'd gotten to a comfortable understanding between themselves. Okonkwo didn't want to be treated like royalty, especially by someone like papa.

Papa nodded and closed the door, Okonkwo grinned, he'd finally won the argument with the old man. He opened the passenger door and got in just as papa settled into the driver's seat.

The car parked in front of his home, it wasn't anything much. He had hardly stayed there while fighting for Mr D but it was important to him that it was truly his. He had two apartments for Rent in the back but he didn't really know what was up with them, Cynthia had always been there to work things out for him. He'd learnt what he could but there were still limits he hadn't crossed. He chuckled as he opened the car door, "at least I know how to use banking facilities," he covered his mouth when he realised he'd been thinking out loud.
