Adesuwa walked into her room and threw her almost empty bag on her mini couch and went straight for her larger than needed bed, it was a luxury she wasn't willing to let go off. She flicked off the light switch close to her, the only lighting left was the cool orange rays of the evening sun streaming lazily into the room. She plopped on the bed with a large thud, the noise made her cringe, she could swear that every one of her bones popped as she hit the foam, "are the people who make beds angry with the general populace?" She sighed, forgetting the love she had for the bed.
She turned over and laid on her stomach and looked forward but staring at the headboard was making laying on the bed even more agonizing, the plain surface was looking like her life today, constricted in a boring order of things, she needed something new, even if it was just a break, a mini vacation maybe. She let her mind roam on possiblities before reigning them in when they started focusing on a particular face.
Adesuwa rolled to the edge of the bed and back again, she had to take a break from the monotony though all she needed at the moment was a hot bath and a tub of ice cream with nuts, raisins and chocolate shavings, in between her legs "is that too much for a girl to ask for?" She screamed into her pillow.
She ran her account figures in her head and the result pulled her spirits down even more. She rolled on her large bed again and this time she couldn't stand the discomfort of her work clothes. The bra and shoes had to go, go and go to the darkest recesses of hell. Well maybe not the shoes but the bra was a big must.
She groaned.
She rolled to the edge of her bed and considered the distance she'd fall if she just rolled off and then crawled to the bathroom, "is this what I've been reduced to?" She said below her breath and chuckled lightly. She looked at the beige color of her rugged floor again.
Her door flew open as rolling off the bed began gaining more ground in her brains argument. She had no idea how long she had been like that.
"Uwa!" Her bestie and flatmate screamed as she walked into the room with white big polythene bags, that Adesuwa's eyes zeroed in on, "I brought..."
"Food!" Adesuwa didn't let her flat mate finish her sentence she was pretty sure she'd shed tears of joy as she groaned again, "sweet miraculous food."she rolled into her back and stretched her hands in total surrender, "thank you Jesus."
"Aaah! So you been wan die for inside here before?" The second girl laughed as she walked over to the bed. Adesuwa pulled herself into a monk's meditation pose, she rubbed her hands in anticipation, "how flexible you are still amazes me, your husb..." Bisola began placing the bags on the bed as she talked but Adesuwa cut her off before she could say a word more.
"Two things Bisola," she placed a finger before the other girls face, "food is the most important thing here, don't spoil it for me laho, please I beg you," she chuckled and raised a second finger, "two, I'm not into contortionism, please don't spoil my innocent mind." She pulled a bag close to her, as her best friend laughed "wesé, your cooperation is much appreciated."
"How did you know what I was going to say," Bisola smirked as she opened up her food package while Adesuwa's eyes grew wider and wider as she opened hers, "It's not only innocent, it's Ino Yamanaka. Even 2face get 2face."
"How won't I know," she paused and looked at her bestie, "after what you told me that day I went to go and ask google for help. Now I can't unsee what I have seen," she pulled the pack of jollof rice towards herself then the dodo and salad packs, "and just so you know," she pointed her spoon at Bisola who stared at her wide eyed, "the only reason I haven't given you Otapiapia, is because I love you and you feed me," she sighed happily and began eating.
