"Hanty please what's strong with you?" Bisola moaned as she held an ice pack to her head, "how will you just push me off the bed like that?" She laid her head on the kitchen island and groaned. Her eyes were practically drilling holes into her friend sitting opposite her. This was the definition of a birthday surprise gone wrong.
Adesuwa sheepishly glanced around the room avoiding the daggers her bestie was staring at her with, "sorry Bisola," she pushed her cup of juice towards her best friend, "I was scared. You can have my cup of juice."
Bisola's gaze softened as she pulled the cup to herself, "I'm drinking this one and the rest in the carton as payback."
Adesuwa chuckled, "fair enough," she stood up from her seat and went behind her friend, "shebi you know I wuv you?" She hugged the bigger lady from behind and placed her chin on her head.
Bisola pouted, maybe she should have just gone with a 'simple happy birthday and good morning' this time around, "I never thought you would get scared like that."
Adesuwa chuckled, "well I woke up to my best friend's face in a heavy coat of white powder and thick black paint around her eyes," she kissed the top of her bestie's head, "You were grinning like a psychopath Bisola,"
Bisola removed the ice pack from her head and grinned, "it was kinda worth it though, the look on your face was priceless."
Adesuwa shook her head, sighed and stopped hugging her friend. "I'm starting to think I should have pushed you harder."
Bisola grinned, "so you want to pay my bride price shey?" She removed the ice pack from her head, "you can do to me what you want when you put a ring on it bunny." She chuckled.
The smaller woman sighed, "you're helpless."
"At least just say thank you, I'm the first person to have wished you happy birthday you know?" She turned around on the island stool and smiled at her bestie, "the least you can do is say, oh my beautiful and precious and thoughtful and special and best friend that does so much for me that I don't deserve and.…"
"Thank you Bisola, it's okay," Adesuwa chuckled and hugged her, "the bestest friend in the whole wide world!"
Bisola grinned and sighed, she was content, "that's more like it," she wiggled out of the hug and walked to the refrigerator. She pulled out the juice pack and placed it on the table. "So you took an excuse from work today, how are we going to set up for the birthday?" She asked as she poured drinks in both their cups.
"Well once you're good to go, I'm thinking we start with cleaning the living room a bit and bringing all our chairs to the living room. Then I guess we get to cooking, I asked Grey to bring some drinks before he goes for his gig."
Bisola jumped and twirled, "I've forgiven you now that you've agreed to allow alcohol."
"I haven't, Grey is only bringing no alcoholic drinks."
Bisola sat back down, "oh. This Ada dude better be worth it." She sighed, "you sure you don't wanna go for this Grey dude?"
Adesuwa sighed, "I'm going to give Ada a chance, he just might come."

The heat of the kitchen had slowly reduced as the restaurant got into another slow phase. The majority of the equipment were on stand by and the chefs were taking it slow. The main hall had a few occupants scattered around while the VIP section had a single group of three having sitting at a table discussing while awaiting the arrival of their special order.
Ada stood by the the industrial range with a lifted pan of stir fry vegetables in his hands. He stired them a bit and placed it down on the range again. He was dressed in a large white apron over his dress pants and a blue shirt with it's sleeves rolled up. He grinned as the vegetables in the pan gained a darker hue then poured the contents into three plates, "chichi could you bring the sauce and Ogbe bring the roast sections," he asked his assistant chefs as he placed partially sliced strong crust buns on each of the plates.
