We crossed this bridge that showed us a view of the city awaiting us. The reflection of the lights was evident on the window of the car, as well as in Matt's glistening eyes. His tense hands gripped the stirring wheel but the rest of him was calm.

Once we had crossed the bridge, the city had engulfed us. Bright lights were everywhere. Matt and I began acting like little 5 year olds that were amused by anything shiny and bright, as if we had never been in the city at night.

It sort of reminded me of our trip to Paris. The city had a mind of its own, thriving in people and lights. Speaking of trips, I really wanted to travel with Matt again. Maybe to Australia or some place tropical. Then again my mind changed as easy as a light switch. Spain or Italy sounded nice too.

The enormous buildings towered over us and the longer you looked up at them, the more it looked like they were tilting towards us. Matt pointed out how funny it was watching people scurry to protect themselves from the rain. He said they looked like ants.

The rain was starting to pick up, and I didn't want to be on the streets. A clash of thunder boomed and it almost felt like the ground shake. The rain would probably pick up soon.

"That thunder startle you?" He chuckled and shook his head at me.

"Don't act like you weren't startled!" I pointed out to him.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He shrugged at me.

We made it back onto the bridge and I was glad we left early. Traffic was starting form and I had saved us from that hassle. We were in the city for no more that 10 minutes. So much for a long drive.

We continued on home with the rain picking up when I thought it couldn't anymore. I was actually quite difficult to see the road, which wasn't a very good sign. On a better note, we were minutes away from my house.

I kinda cursed the sky for letting it rain. A late night exploring the city would have been fun with Matt. You know, creating new memories. I think he was a little disappointed that it rained too. There was always another day we could go. I just wasn't wanting to day end so quickly.

Matt had got me home before I knew it. I was lost in my thoughts to even realize. Matt put the car in park but left the engine on. I was absolutely not letting him drive back home in this weather. He would at least have to stay until the rain calmed down a bit.,

"Bye Zoe, I had fun." He leaned over and placed his arms around me.

"You're coming inside until the rain lets up, because you are for sure not driving home in this mini hurricane." My words came out as more of a command.
