it was his birthday today, and she hadn't seen him since this morning. she wanted to plan something for him, but he had a shoot early in the morning and she had to go to her divorce mediation with kang. she couldn't reschedule. since they had put a pause on it due to her accident.
he woke up early for the shoot, he was going to some town an hour or so out of seoul, and said he wanted to get it over with early to spend the day with her. after all this was the second to the last sunday they would be spending together before he left.
he had kissed her goodbye, since he left at 5:30 that morning, and told her he'd meet her at the hyunwoo's office as soon as he could.
she sat up in bed unable to sleep since he left and decided to get up and shower to get ready for the mediation that was at 10 this morning. after she was in her robe and made her way to the bedroom she noticed a black and white bag on the dresser, with a small card next to it with her name on it.
she picked up the card and read the note on it.
'na, hope you like dressing up. can't wait to see you later. i love you. hyungwon.'
she sighs, "he leaves me a gift on his birthday?" she mutters to herself opening the gift and seeing a black dress with a cute long sleeved shirt to wear under. she smiles at the items, wondering why he always picked out things for her.
she takes the items and sighs, shaking her head and places them in the bed. maybe he wanted her to look pretty today for him? she had no idea but she loved the gesture.
she grabbed her cosmetic bag and sat in front of the mirror and began to do her makeup. she had made reservation for a restaurant later on tonight for the two of them. he said he just wanted it to be them two.
when she was done with her makeup and hair, she ironed the clothes and got dressed in it, smiling at herself in the mirror. she looked at the time realizing she had to go to the law firm and meet with hyunwoo. she quickly grabbed her bag coat and shoes.
she quickly walked out the apartment pulling on her coat. she had to rely on public transport today because hyungwon took his car.
it took her sometime, but eventually she got to the law firm. walking past the front desk woman who was already very familiar with her. she walks to hyunwoo's office knocking before entering.
he smiles standing up, "hey nari," he says to her. "you feeling ok today?"
she nods her head, "hey hyunwoo." she smiles. "i feel as good as i can. how's saeron?"
"she is ready for the baby to come out but he's not ready yet," he chuckles. "i told her he wasn't even born yet and already he's as stubborn as his mother. that earned me a book being thrown at me."
nari smiles nodding her head, looking down her smile staying but the sadness apparent. "so something might come up today and i wanted to talk to you before we go in there."
hyunwoo notices a change in her demeanor, "sure nari what is it?"
she lets out a deep breath, "after the accident, the doctors discovered i was pregnant." she looks up at him. "i miscarried, the doctors assumed it was due to the trauma of the accident."
"oh nari i'm so sorry," hyunwoo responds completely taken aback by her statement. he wanted to ask more questions as her lawyer but also wanted to be there for her as a friend. "that must have been so difficult for you."
she nods, "it was in the beginning, for awhile actually but hyungwon was there for me and we went through it together." she says looking up at him. "did you know kang showed up at the hospital?"
