nari sat at her mirror applying all the creams and face masks to help conceal the puffiness in her eyes. all products from the stupid cosmetics company her husband own.

kang had canceled their dinner plans last night and honestly it was just adding salt to her already gapping wound. he was in bed with her this morning but she pretended to be asleep. she couldn't look at him. she couldn't speak to him not yet. usually she would curl into his side and hold his body close to her because she enjoyed the warmth.

there was no longer warmth.

she sighed knowing she had to go eat some cake with her sister and she knew it would be hard to hide it from her. how could she tell narae that her marriage is in shambles? that she was currently in the most difficult position she's ever been in her entire life?

all she could do was apply her makeup and blame the puffiness on a bad nights rest, which again was partially true. since she didn't sleep last night.

she quickly did her hair blow drying it to perfection, because she could never leave the house looking a mess. her makeup was done light but with extra concealer around the dark circles. nari put on a pair of black sunglasses big enough to cover her eyes before she made it out the door.

nari had to pretend she was who she was before. dumb, ignorant and naive.

she walked into the bakery on time as usual. making her way to the front seeing her friend, kihyun behind the counter. "hello." she says in her usually sing song voice. "i'm here."

he shakes his head, "your sister isn't." he responds his voice grumpy.

"kihyun, you know narae, she's not me." she leans on the counter looking down at the cakes through the glass. "she's never on time."

he furrows his eyebrows, watching her, "never on time or never shows up? she better be here nari. i'm not rescheduling again."

she nods her head, "she will trust me i confirmed the time with her it's on the calendar. now where are we sitting?"

he points to a table to the side. "right there. i'll be over if i mean when she comes, ok?"

she nods before making her way over to the seat. waiting for her sister. she heard the bell and looked up not seeing her sister but instead the man she grew to know in the matter of a day.

she quickly looks away hoping he didn't see her, since she embarrassingly broke down in front of him just a merely 24 hours before.

hyungwon makes his way to the counter ringing the bell obnoxiously, until kihyun popped his head from behind the kitchen. "can you stop you'll scare my customers!" he scolds him waving a spatula in a threatening way

"is that how you treat your only customer?" hyungwon chuckles putting his hands up, "what customers hyung? i'm the only person here."

kihyun points to nari with the spatula he just threatened hyungwon with. nari was pretending to be too into her phone to notice, spam texting her sister to hurry up. "she's here to pick out a wedding cake, for her sister. but i will put down a thousand yen saying she won't walk through that door!" kihyun says louder.

hyungwon tilts his head to the side seeing the girl with the long dark hair and thick framed black sunglasses to hide her eyes. "nari?" she looks up awkwardly waving her hand.

the shorter of the two men looks over at nari confused, "you know her?"

"uhm micha works for the same company her husband works for. how do you know her?"

"ah forgot about that." kihyun says crossing his arms. "nari's family and mine go way back. we went to the same camp together."

"you went to camp with narae i was too young to be in your group," nari corrected him. "you two were unbearable as counselors."
