⚠️ WARNING MENTIONS OF PREGNANCY LOSS ⚠️
It had been a year but even after the loss and the pain Jason noticed the smile that still appeared on (Y/N)'s face and the spark in her eyes even if she didn't. "Oh Jay look." she said as she walked over to the rack of onsies. A slight smile appeared on his face. He knew she didn't realize that it was every shopping trip that she would wander into the baby section and when they would go to the mall she would point out the babies or quietly watch the little kids play. He could tell she wanted a baby even if she didn't or even denied everything he was telling her. She always denied it but anyone could see she wanted to try again. "Come on babe lets finish shopping." he said as she wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. Her eyes lingered on the baby section for a moment before she followed him.
After they finished shopping and got in the car Jason turned to look at her. "(Y/N)?" he asked pulling her attention from her phone to his blue eyes with a curious hum. "I know you say you don't want a baby right now..." he started only for her to cut him off. "Jay please don't." she said as she looked down and began to play with her bracelet. "I know it's been a year...and I know the pain is stil there but I can see it in your eyes, you want to try again. You always go to the baby section, you look at couples with kids with so much want...I don't understand why you don't want to actually try again." he said as he rubbed her cheek. (Y/N) hesitated before slapping his hand away. "Shut up Jason! I don't want to try again! Just shut up and drive!" she snapped before turning away from him and watching out the window. Jason went to put his hand on her shoulder but thought better of it then started the car to go home.
The drive home was quiet and it was obvious that (Y/N) was lost in thought. Once they pulled up to the apartment complex she went inside without another word to him. Jason sighed before getting all the bags and following her inside. (Y/N) was already locked in the bedroom leaving Jason to put everything away himself, not that he minded he would rather not talk for a little while than get into a huge fight and be kicked out or worse her leave. Once everything was put away he collapsed on the couch before pulling out a cigarette from the pack in his pocket and lighting it then took a long drag.
One movie, a beer, and an ashtray half full of cigarette butts later and the bedroom door finally opened but Jason didn't dare look over, he knew if he did he would want to follow her back into the bedroom but that probably wouldn't end well. He took a drag of his cigarette then exhaled and watched the smoke rise to the ceiling. "You know if we're going to have a baby you're going to have to kick that habit of yours." (Y/N) said as she sat on the arm on the couch. Jason looked at her with surprise as he sat up. "I'm sorry for snapping at you Jay I know I shouldn't have. I know I wasn't the only one that lost a baby but I guess I snapped at you because I don't want to replace our baby or face that kind of loss again...as I was sitting in the bedroom I realized trying againwouldn't be so bad. We wouldn't be replacing one baby for another but getting a second chance....we are a family of second chances right?" (Y/N) said wiping away a few tears as she looked Jason. "Yeah definatly a family of second chances....you were the rainbow after the storm in my life maybe this'll be the rainbow for you." he said with a slight smile as he pulled her close and hugged her tightly.
9 Months Later
(Y/N) watched as Jason held the small bundle of pink blankets. "Babe I have some bad news for you." he said as he looked at (Y/N) with a smile of pure joy. "Oh and whats that?" she asked with a small yawn. "You're not my favorite girl anymore." he said as he watched the sleeping girl in his arms. "I can't be mad about that.....you were right Jay, she was the rainbow after the storm." (Y/N) said with a smile to rival Jason's. "I'll always keep you safe." Jason whispered as he kissed the baby girl's forhead.
