I watched him as he worked on the computer in Mount Justice. He was so foucused and I could tell something was on his mind. I quietly walked over and stood behind him before I began to run my fingers through his soft black hair. "Come on Dick its late, lets go to bed the computer will be here when you wake up." I whispered as he put his head back and looked up at me. "I'm not tired." he said though the tiredness was clear in his voice. "No maybe you're not but I am. You know I hate sleeping without you." I said as I took off his mask and looked into his tired blue eyes. Dick studied me for a minute before he got up. "You're lucky I like you Todd." he said as he began walking toward the bedroom with me falling close behind. "It's the nightmaresosn't it?" he asked as he stopped to look at me. My eyes met his and he already knew the answer. Dick sighed then picked me up and began carrying me. "I miss him too and I know you're scared but I'm always right here. I won't let anyone hurt you." he said before kissing the top of my head and placing me down on the bed so he could change out of his uniform. Once he was changed he laid down and pulled me close. "I promise no one will hurt you...not while I'm here. I won't let Joker near you...ever, or Scarecrow, or Two-Face, or any of them. You're the best thing to ever happento me and no one will take you away from me." he said as he played with my hair and for the first time in the few months since my brother died I slept without nightmares as I held onto Nightwing.
