Joker had started a riot on the grounds of Arkham Asylum and Jonathan Crane and (Y/N) thought it would be the perfect opportunity to continue their experiments which the Batman had so rudely interrupted when he captured them. So to the morgue they went after all where better to test the fear toxin than the scariest place in the asylum? (Y/N) also got Joker to leave them alone by giving him a few doses of their weaker fear toxin for something he was hiding in the abandoned wing of Arkham but why question what that psychopath was up to when they had work to do.
Studying the Batman in the thralls of fear was so very interesting to both Jonathan and (Y/N). So many doses and he still fought through it! Oh how fascinating this man was! Jonathan had given the dark knight just enough toxin to keep him busy while they made their way to the catacombs under intensive treatment to release their strongest toxin yet into the water supply. "Oh Jonny I can't wait to see what'll happen!" (Y/N) said excitedly as she clung onto Scarecrow's arm. "Yes pet, it will be fascinating...so much fear in the streets." he said holding the sack of fear toxin away from his excitable assistant. The sound of water could be heard as they went down to the door at the end of the hall. "It seems Ivy has gotten stronger" (y/n) said as she gazed at the large glowing plants in front of them. "So it would seem. Come on (y/n) we have work to do." Jonathan said as he pulled the young woman farther into the catacombs entrance and down the old metal stairs. The two were so immersed in their plan neither heard the door open a few minutes later however (y/n) caught movement out of the corner of her eye and turned to see the large man dressed like a bat investigating the glowing plants. "Jonny!"(y/n) whispered lightly pulling said man's arm. "Oh what is it now (y/n)? I'm busy." Jonathan snapped as he turned to her before his blue eyes settled on the dark mass behind her. "Too late, Batman! One step closer... and this goes into the water! The cave will fill with your deepest, darkest nightmares and you will never reach your precious Venom roots." he said with a laugh as he backed up closer to the water. (Y/n)'s eyes widened with excitement and anticipation as she watched Batman take a step forward to stop him, but before he could get close to the Scarecrow Killer Croc popped up making him drop the sack of toxin then dragged the man under the murky water. Batman turned his attention back (y/n) who's eyes flicked between the dark knight and the toxin. "Don't even think about it." he warned. His warning went unheeded however as the young woman sprang forward and grabbed the sack only to be pulled to the ground by Batman hard enough to knock her out before he continued into Croc's lair for the samples he needed but when he returned the young woman was nowhere to be found.
That was two years ago and (y/n) had been clean of any crime but struggled to find a new job but odd jobs helped make ends meet. The small rundown apartment wasn't much but it kept the Bat and other vigilantes off her back. That's how her life was, boring and repetitive. That was until Halloween when Scarecrow made his threat to cover the city in a new more powerful fear toxin. A smile grew on (y/n)'s face she knew he couldn't be dead! It was just a feeling but she was happy it was right. Watching Gotham in chaos was satisfying, this is how it should've been two years ago. (Y/n) sat on the roof of the tall apartment complex as the huge cloud of toxin took over the city the screams of fear were music to her ears but it would seem the Bat couldn't stay down since the cloud of toxin slowly dissipated halfway through the night. With a sigh (y/n) went back to her apartment and opened her closet to see her old uniform to match Jonathan's and some fear toxin grenades she had made but hadn't had a chance to show him before they were caught. It had been awhile since she dawned the outfit but with a sigh of happiness she got herself ready to go. Jonathan was sure to be caught but (y/n) wouldn't let him stay locked up for long. Staying in the shadows wasn't hard in the dark city of Gotham as (y/n) made her way to the GCPD she made sure not to be noticed. The garage doors were locked tight but in this city she knew it wouldn't be long before they opened for a car to come through and once one did she slipped inside. Peeking down the winding lot she saw a few officers sitting around and no Batmobile in sight, lucky her. Pulling the pin from the grenade she tossed it toward them as she pulled down her gas mask as the orange fog erupted from the little container and screams of fear began to fill the parking lot. The doors whipped open as other officers came out only to take in lung fulls of fear. "Tell me what scares you piggies?" (Y/n) giggled as she pushed them away and dropped another grenade once inside. Moving quickly as the toxin took over the department (y/n) quickly found Jonathan. "Hey Jonny it's time to get out of here." she said as she grabbed his shoulder through the bars. His blue eyes met hers and a small smile found its way to his features. "How did I know you'd come for me, pet?" He said in a raspy voice. "Because I'd never leave you, love." she said before finding the keys and unlocking the large cell. "Let's get out of here we have a lot of catching up to do."
