| CHAPTER III |
A few days before the wedding, we still had the last things to do. Throughout the afternoon, I remained with my fiancé to decide what would be put on the menu and which band we would hire. I really wanted an alternative jazz or rock band, but Louis was looking for an electronic DJ or a pop band to entertain the guests. He really didn't have any musical preferences, but seemed much more concerned with pleasing everyone rather than satisfying our own desires as a couple.
At the end of the day, the final word was always the Lou's word. And looking at everything we had planned until then, I couldn't see it as my own party and wedding ceremony. I felt no personality, but I left these thoughts to myself, at least until dinnertime.
We had chosen a seafood restaurant that night, and he made a point of trying everything on the menu to create his own ideas for the dishes that would be served at our party buffet.
"What did you think about this one?"
He said when I finished taking a bite of some sort of fish that I had no idea what it was called.
"I think is too much."
"It's quite expensive and exotic, I think it would be nice to have something like this on the menu."
"We already decided on our menu, what we chose today is good enough, right?"
"I think we need something else. I want this to be a remembrance day, and you know it."
"Why are you so insecure about what people will think? It's enough to be a huge party."
I watched him take one more sip of his third glass of wine as I stood there with my glass of water.
"What is that supposed to mean? You said it was audacious, and I thought that was a good thing. Can I still believe it, or has there been a misinterpretation on my part?" Louis stopped eating so he could cross his arms and look at me.
"May I be honest?" I put the plate in front of me and looked back. "I think it would be better if we had a limit. I know you're anxious and nervous about this party, and you really should be, it's a big moment. But too much can ruin everything else, so let's take it easy."
"I don't know if I understand." Louis laughs "What's so bad about that? Nothing stands between us. My father said he would pay for everything and he let me choose whatever I wanted."
"It's not about money, it's about being too much." I pointed out what he didn't get at all. "But it's okay, Louis. If that's what you want, it's good for me."
I gave up, he didn't show any respect. There was no reason to pursue the argument, especially since he was drunk and drunk Louis is a big issue.
"You don't like what I'm doing. There is always something bothering you and now even the food is a godamn problem!" he said in a high voice.
