| CHAPTER V |

"Massimo". When I heard that name, I couldn't think of anybody except the one Harry told me about. It was not a common name so it could only be his ex-husband, the one who always kept in touch with the whole family.

I had to look at the green-eyed boy and see how he reacted. He was surprised as I was, but beyond the obvious shock on his face, there was also a huge disappointment. Even his posture changed.

Before Louis could return to my lap, his brother stopped him and asked him to go to the reading room. I wished my fiancé wouldn't get up because I was afraid of how this possible discussion might end, since Louis wouldn't accept being confronted about his decisions. But Harry knew him as well as I did.

Nobody else in the room noticed the situation, so the only man who had a cigar in his hand was me. I tried to smoke to make my anxiety go away, but it didn't work. Nothing could stop me from thinking about the end of their discussion. And it only got worse when those gentlemen next to me were just talking about random things that I really don't give a fuck.

I couldn't stand there for too long so I got out of the chair, going straight to the locked door of the reading room.

Unfortunately, the acoustic on the walls was very good and I didn't hear anything clear. But it was noticeable that they were arguing. Fortunately, there was a crack in the door, a place I could not see beyond their shadowy feet.

I tried to spy on them because I felt I needed to be there if something got completely out of control. So I focused on listening to what they were saying, because it was better to understand their words.

I heard Massimo's name mentioned at the same time as the words "betrayal" and "consideration. Louis's voice interrupted Harry at every moment, making it even more difficult to communicate.

I heard them talking about me and apart from my name, Louis mentioned our marriage and the word "envy". I felt bad about those words and I could hardly imagine how Harry felt either.

"What are you doing?" I looked up at the young Caleb standing in front of me.

The youngest member of the family caught me squatting on the floor.

"I'm looking for a coin that I dropped on the floor. But what about you? What are you doing here?"

I took a deep breath of relief when I succeeded in giving a convincing response to a four-year-old boy. But at the end of the day, he seemed to have caught me in a lie anyways.

Caleb knocked on the door and called by the nickname he and Harry used to use with each other, "fatellino." I had no idea what that meant, but I would definitely ask later. At that moment I was even afraid to say a word to him, I could even see the stress on his face when he opened the door to take the little boy by the hand.
