| CHAPTER X |
I went to bed without Louis, since he preferred to stay in Billy's room, probably saying bullshit about me. I had enough of trying to make him understand simple things, so I let him try for himself.
That Friday would be the first day of the Bower family official holiday, it was only two weeks before the wedding and there was a lot of excitement about the ceremony. I was a bit nervous because we had rehearsals for the next five days.
It was Louis who woke me up in the morning, holding a tray with breakfast. It wasn't something that came from him very often, so I made the assumption that it could only mean one thing.
"Good morning. I wanted to apologize for yesterday." he said softly as he sat down next to me on the bed.
"Apologize for what exactly?" I asked as I sat up and pulled the tray closer.
"For forgetting your birthday."
"Are you sorry about something? Or are you just saying that because you can't stand the fact that we've been fighting for days?"
I was hoping for a genuine response, so I turned my face towards him to have a better look.
"Perhaps I overreacted a little. You know how hard it's to admit that I'm wrong, and maybe I'm totally wrong about you. I don't want it to stay that way." His hand touched mine and a caress was done on my engagement ring. "I'll marry you in a few days and I don't want to hang up. Let's fix what we need to fix now and stop fighting."
"I never wanted to fight." I said, taking out a cup of coffee and having a sip.
"I know. Our fights have become more frequent now and you know why, right?"
Louis arched an eyebrow and I stared at him for a while, still trying to understand what he was trying to say.
"What's the reason? Your stubborn attitude?"
"Harry. He's the problem!" he replied a little impatiently.
"No. Why would he be a problem?"
"Since you are his protector and his best friend? My dad told me about the ride you gave Harry while I was away. And if that wasn't enough, you talked to each other while I was out, and I know it wasn't just that time in the garden. Last night, he made you a cake! How much time should a person have to make a birthday cake for someone they've met in less than a week? Don't you think this is weird?"
At that moment, Louis was no longer beside me on the bed, much less speaking in a sweet voice.
"I don't think it's weird. We're almost family, I'll be officially part of Bower's very soon."
"Harry is not one of the Bower's, Zayn. He never wanted to be."
I saw Louis walking around the room, apparently mad. I wasn't sure what his point was, but I was curious.
