"Hey, sugar, wake up." Heidi heard Steve softly say, laying a hand on her back. Heidi groaned and curled up further, nuzzling her face into the pillow. Steve had left Heidi to nap while he headed down to the lab, Sam had called him and told him it was important.
"Come on, I gotta talk to you." Steve said just as softly. Heidi finally sat up and stared up at Steve as he sat on the edge of the bed.
"Has nobody ever told you how important naps are for the baby?" She teased sleepily.
"I know, I'm sorry. You can go back to bed in a little bit, how is Dustin doing in there?" Steve asked, reaching over and putting his hand on the bump, his thumb rubbing her through her shirt.
"He's tired." Heidi teased. "Whats up, honey? You said you had to talk to me."
"We found Bucky." He blurted out. Heidi looked at him in shock.
"Is he..." She couldn't get the words out and felt like she was going to cry at any moment.
"No, he's not dead and he's not with Hydra. But they think he did something bad, they don't plan on taking him alive." Steve explained.
"Then we have to get to him before anyone else." Heidi said, rolling onto her side and somehow successfully pulling herself out of bed, something she hadn't been able to do in weeks without Steve's help.
"They're not going to care if he goes peacefully, if they get a clear shot they're going to take it." Steve sighed heavily. Heidi came around to where he was sitting on the edge of the bed and put her hand on the side of his face.
"Then we can't let them get a clear shot." Heidi said calmly. Steve leaned forward and rested his forehead on her pregnant belly. "I know, that's why you can't go."
"Steve...it's Bucky, I have to go." Heidi argued calmly. Steve simply put his hand on her stomach. "Sugar, you need to keep Dustin safe. You're going with Thor to Asgard." Steve said.
"Honey, don't do this." Heidi protested.
"I can't let anything happen to either of you. I'll bring Bucky back safe, but you have to go with Thor. The men hunting you won't be able to find you on another planet." Steve said calmly, Heidi sighed and sat down on Steve's leg.
"I don't like this." She said with a huff, Steve laughed lightly and pulled her closer to his body, kissing her temple. "I don't either. But Sam is coming with me, everything will be fine." Steve promised.
"Don't do anything stupid, please." Heidi pleaded. She stood up from his lap, extending her hand for him that he gratefully took. When he stood up he held onto her bump, caressing her.
"I won't." He vowed. "I already packed you a bag, it's with Thor. Just go get ready and we can head downstairs, I have to be on the jet in 20 minutes." Steve confessed. Heidi fought back the tears and headed into the bathroom to get ready, already dreading the worry she felt having Steve leave. Already worried about Bucky as well. Heidi brushed her teeth and her hair, washing her face with cold water afterwards.
When Heidi was ready to go, Steve led her by the hand to the elevator, heading for the common room where he knew Thor was already waiting on her.
"How is the little one?" Thor asked when he saw Heidi and Steve come out of the elevator. She couldn't even feel excited to see Thor, despite him being away for the last month. She was too worried about Steve, about Bucky.
"Really tired today." Heidi said with a sad sleepy smile. She turned around to Steve and wrapped her arms tightly around his torso, feeling him wrap his arms around her as well.
"I love you, sugar. You have nothing to worry about." Steve promised her.
"I love you, please come home to us." Heidi pleaded feeling a few tears already fighting its way to the surface.
