Chan was sitting in the living room of Hyunjin's house, tapping his foot aggressively against the floor whilst staring at the blank TV screen. His eyes were tired and dark circles surrounded them due to the fact that he barely got any shut eye in the past week. How could he when his childhood best friend was dead, and another one was extremely dissociated to the point that he would stare at the wall 24 7?

The sound of a door being unlocked snapped him out of his anxious leg movements, and once he saw Hongjoong enter the room with a relieved expression, he let out a breath that he didn't even realise he was holding in.

"How did things go?"

"Great, actually." Hongjoong sat down next to Chan, putting down a bag full of containers on the table. When the older gave him a confused look, he explained with a sigh, "Seonghwa brought some side dishes. Have some, you need to eat."

"I don't have the appetite."

"Yah." He pointed at him with an accusing finger. "Just because your best friend isn't eating doesn't mean that you can't look after yourself either."

"But-"

"Shut it, I know you feel bad about it. Your whole body expression literally screams it." He rolled his eyes before pulling out a container from the bag, opening it to reveal a bunch of kimchi. "Seonghwa's mum's kimchi bombs, trust me. Wanna try some? There's some soup too."

When the older didn't reply, Hongjoong let out yet another sigh. He put the container down, looking at Chan. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll come around eventually... even though it hurts to see him like this. All broken and empty-"

"Not helping," Chan muttered under his breath.

"Fuck I'm bad at this, huh?" Hongjoong chuckled awkwardly, rubbing his nape.

Chan sighed, shaking his head in a side to side motion. "No, it's alright. Thank you."

He got up and picked up the bag, taking it to the kitchen. Hongjoong followed him and leaned against the kitchen counter and watched as Chan put the contents of the bag into the fridge.

"Jisung's gang is sorted out... they were only concerned about any traces left behind, so I went and collected his belongings. Turns out it wasn't important to the police."

"They really did their part, huh?"

Hongjoong scoffed. "That's why we never trusted them with anything. If there actually was a problem, we always had to deal with it ourselves. Probably for the best anyways, didn't want to get caught."

Just then, Y/n entered the kitchen, looking down.

Chan closed the fridge and looked at her in concern. "You alright?" he asked, even though he already knew the answer.

"Minho won't even budge... it's been a week and the only words he's spoken is that it's his fault... I can't imagine what he's going through."

Chan let out a soft sigh. "He remembered his past too, so that's weighing on him too."

"His past?"

"He never told you?" Chan asked in surprise. The two were really close, so he was shocked that he had never mentioned it to her.

"No he didn't... is it bad?"

Hongjoong and Chan exchanged a look which Y/n took note of and let out a soft sigh. "I get it... pretend I never asked."

She walked over to grab a glass of water, and just then the bell rang.

"I'll get it." Chan went over to the front door and answered it, seeing two policemen standing in front of him.
