I woke up with the sun like any other day. The stinging in my foot had stopped, probably thanks to Mo'at's magic remedies. She really is a skilled woman. I sit up in my hammock, stretching my arms. The stick was still next to me, the reminder of yesterday puts a smile on my face. I hop down, grabbing the bag of supplies, I head inside. replaced the bandage although the wound wasn't bleeding anymore.

"Hey." Lono greets me, he is cutting up various fruits and vegetables. I give him a small smile as I approach him to grab a fruit from the table.

I turn around and sit in a spot where the sun is shining. I unwrap my foot, it isn't bleeding anymore, but I apply more ointment and wrap it again. I start putting the supplies away when familiar footsteps approach. Uh oh.

My mother enters, smiling at my brother warmly.

She turns to me and her face goes cold. "What is this." She says, staring daggers into my foot. I can almost feel the cut reopening.

"A small cut." I replied calmly, making my face look content, even though I am terrified. She walks over to me to inspect it. She picks up my foot for a moment, then lays it back on the floor. I exhale with relief.

"How?" She asks, walking towards my brother.

"I must have cut it on a rock in the water." I lie, but it's better they don't know the truth.

"Hm." Was all my mother replied. She pauses for a moment then takes a breath, "Ninat saw you with the Sully boys, is this true?" Lono freezes. My mother turns around to watch my reaction. My brother widens his eyes at me. I furrow my brow innocently.

"I was not with them; The older one just helped me to Tsahik." I say nonchalant, taking a bite of my fruit. I guess my mother took the response, because she grabs some food and walks away.

I stand and walk back over to Lono. He glances up at me, then goes back to cutting. He would have said something if there wasn't a chance of our mother eavesdropping. I wrap a bunch of vegetables in two different leaves, "I'm going fishing, thanks for the food." I say, nodding at him. I put one of the wraps in my bag, and sling it over my shoulder, before and making my way towards Kata's hammock. I gently pull down the side of her hammock, she is still sleeping peacefully. I leave the other wrap in the hammock for her, and leave for the day.
