I can already sense she's clingy sometimes. I still have that meeting Tony had called about. Can't take the stress right now but what choice do I get? Gangs are prominent in Clarendon so it's no surprise when you find out my mother leads one. More like a mafia than a gang when you consider size, close to 5000 members in Jamaica alone, not to mention the thousands in New York, Canada and Mexico. I'm not a fan of violence but it's in my blood. I'm in charge of the New York and Kingston branches
There's been a disruption in August Town, I thought I dealt with that but apparently not. The supply of marijuana has been the biggest issue because so many farmers are here but the Kingston branch is responsible for the supplies. We have a mole and they're leaking important information on how we grow our weed.
"I don't have time for this," I sigh to myself as I head for Kingston from Mandeville. I didn't tell anybody where I'm going and I forgot that I left Aldaine with Maya.
I tried calling his deadbeat mother but as expected she didn't pick up. The thought of her upsets me and I press down on the gas a little too hard. I ease my foot up as soon as I realise.
I don't have any options but I can't leave him there so I decide to try Christine. The very thought of her name makes me hard, I don't like that. I can't bring her into anything. I'm too dangerous for her.
The phone rings and she picks up on the first ring.
"Hey, you okay?" she asks and I smile automatically. I don't normally smile because the only thing in my life to smile about was my little boy.
"Yeah I'm good, can I ask a favour of you?" I ask and she agrees.
"I left my son at Maya's house and I'm on my way to Kingston. I forgot that he wasn't with his mother, could I figure out a way to let him stay with you for the night?" I ask, expecting her to ask where Alaine was but to my surprise she didn't.
"I know Maya, we went to college together and I just happen to know where she lives," she laughs and I'm thinking this is just the best coincidence ever.
"So yeah I'll get him, he can stay with me for tonight," she confirms and my heart melts.
"Thank you so much Tina," I said and that was the most genuine thank you of my life. She's generous and has a big heart but that mouth of hers.
"No problem," she said, hanging up right after. She didn't even ask when I'll be returning. I'm never this trusting towards anybody, especially somebody I just met but I'm at peace when I'm around her and she gives off a positive aura.
5 minutes later
I turn up the music in my car to the point where the only thing I can hear is bass. My phone rang shortly after.
Who the fuck dis mn?
"Yo," is all I say when I answer the phone.
"Boss yuh still a come?" Tony questions and I just hang up because weh the fuck him a call a question mi fah?
Sometimes only Jah know why mi put up wid Tony, cya get him loyalty nuh weh else but him chat too much mn. More while mi affi just tek a breath and memba seh him mout set pon spring and him just neva shut up.
I wear a stern look on my face the rest of the drive. Sooner or later I pull into August Town and I'm met with Andrew aka Drew and Tamele aka Tammy. Yes she's female and yes she's one of my accomplices. She's buff as hell for her gender and believe it or not she's bigger than Drew and stronger too.
"Drew…Tam," I greet as they open the gate. Behind the gate is a guesthouse that houses the "farmers" and in that same building is the basement aka the meeting hall.
