Chapter 21 "Baby shower"

Tina's POV
It's the new year and I'm walking into it with a boyfriend. He's the first man in my life to get that title. I've never had a boyfriend, not a bad thing because at least I don't have any crazy exes running around.

That's not entirely true.

My mother left early this morning because she has work tomorrow and she's going all the way to Trelawny.

The ring sparkling on my finger causes me to smile. It's an obvious expense for just a promise ring.

"I love you," I hug him and whisper lightly. Only audible to him.

Cya just a throw roun dem word deh eno.

I'm not. I feel like I've known ever since that supermarket incident. It's easy to love somebody, maintaining that love is the hard part.

"I love you too," he whispers back. Not to my surprise.

We let each other go and I turned around to see Anaya with her hands over her mouth from shock. When she finally soaks up reality she squeals and runs to hug me.

I accept and return the hug.

"Congratulations babe," she smiles.

"Thank you," I blush.

Nester doesn't react much. He's just standing there with a grin on his lips and his arms folded below his pecks.

"Suh how yuh jus tan up suh?" Anaya asks, hitting him on the shoulder.

"Cause mi did done know," he smirks and she hits him again.

"And yuh neva tell mi?" she groans and rolls her eyes. Attitude in her tone.

"You? Well love chat suh?" he laughs and she gasps dramatically before slightly shoving his shoulder.

"Fuck you Nester Carter," she says in a serious tone that she's trying desperately to fake.

"Cause yuh know a true," he teases and she rolls her eyes before hugging onto his hand, tracing his biceps with her fingers.

"Don't talk to me," she scoffs.

"And yuh hitch on pon mi suh?" he says and Oshane and I laugh.

"Nester," she whines and we all laugh.

It's currently 1:30a.m and we are making our way home. It's dark outside as expected. We drop off Nester and Anaya.

Oshane decides to call Maya to see if we can pick up Oshane redskin boy. His phone is connected to the speakers in the car so the call can be heard by both of us.

"Hey," Maya answers the phone.

"Goodnight, mi a come fi Aldy," he tells her.

"Alright, weh yuh deh?" she asks.

"Spaulding a come," he responds.

"Alright," she says, ending the call.

I honestly don't know when I drifted off to sleep.

7:45 a.m
I wake up in my bed, changed and a bonnet on my head. I was expecting to wake up to Shane beside me but to my disappointment he's not here. He is my official man so he could sleep with me. Maybe he isn't ready for that or I'm over thinking.

A knock on my door pulls me from my thoughts. I decided to just get up and answer it.

"Good morning," I'm greeted with a yawning Oshane at my room door.

"Good morning bubz," I smile and he kisses my forehead.

"I'm going to brush my teeth," I inform him and he nods and follows me into the room where he takes a seat.
