Days pass as the party slowly creeps up on us. The preparations for my 'performance' is taking longer than it should. I don't even know what song I want to sing!
"I'm done, I am done with this." I sighed frustrated and shut down the computer.
Sonic looks up from his phone. "You wanna take a break?"
"Please?"
Sonic nods and gets up. "Silver and Haven went to give some invites out. How 'bout we go for a walk?" I stand, following the male outside.
We walk in silence for a while till Sonic broke the awkward air. "So, uh, you ready for the party? It's only half a week away."
I shrug. "I guess... This whole song thing is driving me crazy though."
"If you want, we can call it off. You don't have to sing if it makes you feel better." Sonic stated, his voice thick with guilt. "We did shove you in the spotlight.."
"No no, I said I would do it, so I will." I wave my hand dismissively.
"Okay, but if you change your mind, let me know." Sonic sighed. I give him a nod and we fall into a calm silence.
I lost track of time as we walk, lost in our own thoughts. We rarely talked at all. Funny, I like to talk, but with Sonic, I'm okay with us being quiet. Just having him around makes me feel relaxed. I don't know why though.
"Hey Zara?" Sonic's voice cuts into my little daydreaming. I glance at him, tilting my head.
"Yeah?"
"Uh... Is something wrong? You're being fairly quiet."
I blinked confused. "Yeah, I'm fine."
The azure hedgehog glanced down at his phone. "Look, we made a little mistake of the date of the party. Its the sixteenth instead of the seventeenth, is that cool with you?"
"The... Sixteenth.." That date sounds very familiar to me. "What's this month?"
"Er.... November. Why?" Sonic tilts his head in confusion.
I sighed, now I know why the date rang some bells. "Nothing, forget about it."
"No, it's something, what?" Sonic pressed, coming to a stop.
I turn to him. "Its nothing to worry about, just forget about it."
Sonic walked up to me. "If its nothing, then its not a problem to tell me."
I turn on my heel, walking away from him. "Forget it."
Sonic grabs my hand, pulling me back into him. My body locks up and my heart stops. Sonic turns me around to face him. "Zara, please?"
Swallowing a blush, I look down at the ground. "November sixteenth is my birthday...." I mumble.
Sonic's ear twitches. "Your birthday? Whats the problem with that?"
I shake my head. To be honest, I don't know. Thinking about the day makes my heart hurt. Sonic sighed and offers a smile.
"How old are you turning?"
I think for a moment, unsure. "Fifteen."
Sonic chuckles. "Looks like you do remember some things. Does this mean your memory is back?" He asked hopeful. I shake my head and his ears fell. "Oh..."
I flick his ear up. "Chill, I do want my memory back, but that doesn't mean it will appear on a silver platter. I'll get it back."
"Yeah, you're right." Sonic runs a hand though his quills. "I just wish I could be of more use."
"You are, by helping me relax." I ruffle his quills.
Sonic chuckled. "Yeah yeah, whatever you say. Lets head back, shall we?"
"Yes we shall." I laughed, following the male back to his house. "Hey Sonic?"
"Yeah?"
I glance up at him, since he was a little taller. "How old are you?"
Sonic blinked, taken aback by my question. "Oh, I'm sixteen. Turning seventeen June twenty-third."
Wow... So he's only a year older than me. Technically he's only six months older than me. But still older.
"So that makes me older than you. Older and taller." Sonic smiled, as if he read my thoughts.
I send him a playful glare. "I'll give that to ya. At the least I'm better looking than you." I sneer.
Sonic chuckled and muttered softly. "Can't argue with that..."
"What was that?"
He waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry 'bout it. Wasn't anything important."
I frown, unconvinced, but I'll let it slide. But what did he mean by that?
