I never thought I was really one to give into peer pressure or really care what people think about me, but clearly, I was wrong.  I used to get more upset when people would talk shit on Eddie, not caring what they said about me.

After the day I went back to school after being sick, that all changed.  I still care more about what they say about him, but now I care about what they say about me, too.

I didn't used to give a shit about how people saw me.  I wear the clothes I like and do my hair and make up how I want.  I have my own very unique style, even if it makes me a freak.

Today, I decided I'm going to wear clothes that cover me completely.   I try to hide the imperfections that are now constantly being pointed out. I'm not going to go out of my way to look adorably goth anymore.  I don't want to waste my time doing my hair or makeup. I'm going to look as dead on the outside as I feel in the inside.

I put on a t-shirt and jeans before pulling an oversized hoodie over my head. Taking a moment to stare at myself in the mirror, I make a half assed attempt at brushing my hair.  I'm pretty sure I look exactly how I feel,  like shit.

"Angel, Becky's gonna be here any minute.  Are you ready to -" Eddie stops mid sentance as he walks into my room. "I guess you're almost ready?"

He beams at me as he walks up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist as he rests his chin on my shoulder.

"I guess so." I reply, putting my hands over his.  I try to hide the nauseous feeling I have. His hands on my stomach make me uncomfortable, though they shouldn't.  If there was ever anyone who didn't care what I look like, it's Eddie.  So why is his innocent show of affection making me want to scream and hide?

The sound of Becky honking for us to leave snaps be back to reality.  I quickly grab my jacket as Eddie grabs our lunches before heading out the door.

The ride to school is filled with loud heavy metal music blaring as Eddie and Becky sing along.  I can't make myself join them, even though this is my favorite song.  I stare out the window as I contemplate my life and how I became everyone's prime target.

Just like every day before this one, we all get out of the car once Becky parks. Eddie instinctively puts his arm around my waist. I keep trying to pretend it doesn't bother me.  I love him, he loves me, this shouldn't be a problem.  I can't let this be a problem.

We walk together through the halls, making our way to our lockers.  As I'm putting books in and taking some out, I'm constantly being rammed into.

"Watch it, lard ass!" A girl, bigger than me, yells as she crashes into me.

"Get out of the way tubby!" A senior cheerleader calls before also bumping me into my locker.

I close my eyes and fight back the tears as I try to recollect myself and my books.

Eddie pops up beside me, kissing my cheek. "Are you okay, princess?" He asks, noticing the look on my face.

"Yeah.  I'm fine.  Everything's fine. Let's just go to class, okay?" I force a smile as he drapes his arm over my shoulders, leading us to homeroom.

I feel like everyone is staring at me.  I can hear their whispers about me.  I sink down as far as I can go, in my seat, trying to hide from everyone.  Eddie glances over at me a moment before putting his hand on my bouncing knee.
