Billy's been making a habit of coming over every day during his last period study hall. I think he and Eddie came up with the idea at school to make sure I'm not left unattended. It's a little annoying, but I know they mean well.
Even though I'm home with Wayne, I still have some time alone to myself. He let me borrow his truck to go do whatever I want today while he sleeps. Obviously, I'm going to go get repierced. I smile to myself as I head to the shop.
"Hey, long time no see kid." David greets me as he comes out of a back room at the same time I walk out of the piercing room.
"Hey! Yeah. I was uhm, I was gone for a while. I'm glad to see you still own the place." I smile at him, reminiscing about the first and last time I was here.
"Yup, I see you have more ink than the last time you were here. Do them yourself?"
"Nah, my husband did this one." I point to my cat on the moon. "I'd love for you to give me another, if you have time."
"Of course, kid. What are you thinking of doing?" He asks, leading me back to his chair. "You are eighteen now, right?"
"Yeah, I'm eighteen now." I smile, showing him my new, completely and genuinely legal ID I got the other day.
I think about what happened to me the other night and decide wings would be perfect.
"Big black feathered wings?" I ask him with a shrug.
"You sure? It'll take a while."
"Yeah, I've got some time to kill." I tell him.
"It's gonna hurt. You already know that."
"I think it feels good, honestly."
He smirks at me as he pats the bed. "Shirts gotta come off, though."
I nod and pull off my shirt and unhook my bra before laying down.
As he gets to work, freehanding the massive tattoo, chatting it up a bit. We talk about Eddie, school, and body art. Just like the first time I was here, he asks me if I'd like to apprentice for him.
"I'm waiting for some school stuff to come in, but I'll let you know as soon as I can." I tell him. I wish those damn tests would arrive so I know where I stand as far as my schooling is concerned.
"Make sure you do. I'd love for you to join my family here. You can start whenever you want. Most shops don't pay apprentices, but I think I can make an exception." He tells me as he adds his finishing touches.
"Really?" I ask, excited that I'd have a real paying job. I won't have to go back to and rely on dealing.
"Of course. I'll train you and give you little side jobs to do here and there." He sets the machine down before showing me my tattoo.
"Holy shit! It's amazing!" I beam. "Thank you."
David covers it with protective plastic, and I slip my shirt on and be bra off.
"No problem, kid. Give me a call when you can start. Alright?" He hands me his card .
"What do I owe you?" I ask, pulling out my wallet.
"It's on the house. Think of it as an employee discount." He grins, more than happy to give it to me for free.
"Thanks. You're the best!"
"Just make sure you come back soon. Take care, kid."
I grin ear to ear all the way home. I have my old piercings back and a couple of new ones. And I have a new tattoo, symbolizing what I really am.
