A Lukanette Love Story

Chapter 6

(Skipping forward to Kitty Section rehearsal the next day)

       The day has gone pretty good so far for Marinette, Monarch struck early in the day with an akuma attack. So, for Marinette, after taking care of that problem as Ladybug with Chat Noir, she could relax the rest of the day. Thankfully, it's not often that Monarch strikes twice in one day. So now she is able to head over to rehearsal and panic about her love life.

       She makes her way over to the houseboat that the band practices at, which also happens to be where Juleka and Luka live. Marinette had a slight skip to her step. Until she spotted Adrien, then she tripped over her feet while getting on the boat. She closed her eyes as she fell, hoping it would hurt less if she didn't see the floor coming up to greet her face.

      Unexpectedly, a pair of warm arms wrap around her, stopping her fall. She hesitantly opens one eye to peek at who caught her, it was Luka. She opens her other eye and breathes a sigh of relief, "Thanks Luka." She says, he smiles down at her and helps her get her balance back, "Anytime Marinette." He says, meaning it.

       After Marinette gets her balance back, she reluctantly pulls away from him. He let's her go, looking a bit sad and turns to go help the band finish setting up. Marinette turns and walks over to where her girl friends are, she sees that Alya saw the whole thing that just happened and now her eyes are bugging out beneath her glasses. Marinette laughs softly to herself, Alya is surely going to pounce on her with questions.

       "Girlllll did you see the way he was looking at you?? You could just see the connection between the two of you!" Alya exclaims as soon as Marinette walks up. Marinette blushes a little bit. 

       "Uh oh, don't look now but Adrien is staring at you." Alya says suddenly. "What no! Ahhh!" Marinette jumps getting all flaily, turning, and looking to see that Adrien is indeed looking at her, he smiles and waves at her. She gets this big awkward smile and waves back and then turns away putting her face in her hands feeling embarrassed. Alya pats her shoulder sympathetically and mutters, "I still think Luka is healthier for you."

       So Kitty Section starts to play and everyone else sits down to listen. Marinette had a hard time knowing who to look at, Luka or Adrien, they both would try to catch her eye. It was clear that Adrien finally caught onto Marinette's feelings for him, but after everything that has happen for her as a superhero, she still feels like now it is impossible to follow any of her feelings for anyone. She sighs, she has been doing that a lot lately, it's not like her to not bounce back from things and be her usual chipper self.

       As she listens to her friends play, she decides to keep eye contact with Luka, there is just something about him, some hidden knowledge in his eyes that intrigues her. The band keeps playing for a while and then they close out their last song, Marinette jumps up with the rest of her friends, clapping and cheering loudly.

       The band starts to pack up their instruments and Adrien walks over to Marinette. "Hey Marinette." He says, Marinette jumps in surprise and loses her balance, Adrien grabs her arm to steady her. "Are you okay?" He asks concerned, "Yeah! I'm great.... you're great.... I mean the band was great.... what I mean to say is I'm fine." She says nervously. He chuckles at her nervous antics. "I was wondering if I could talk to you in private for a minute." He asks sheepishly, rubbing his neck like he does when he's nervous. Marinette nervously looks at Luka seeing him watch them, she looks back at Adrien.

She musters up her courage, "Sure, let's talk." She says.
