It pained Luka to see Marinette so hurt, he wished that he could do something to help her, but he knew patience was key, in order for her to open up to him. So, he just sat there rubbing her back hoping it would help, except he almost stopped when she cried harder at his touch, he hesitated, but the next thing he knew, she was putting her face on his chest, crying into his shirt.
He adjusts the way he is sitting a little so he can wrap his arms around her, it's not the most comfortable angle to sit at, but he isn't going to complain. He rests his head on top of hers and he starts rocking her gently back and forth, "Shh shh, shh shh, everything with be okay Marinette." He says softly to her.
He hears a shuffling of footsteps near the stairs and see Alya and their friends peeking in, Alya see him holding Marinette as she cries and mouths the words "We're gonna go." While pointing with her thumb over her shoulder. He gives her a slight nod and hears them walking away and getting off the ship. Now it's just him and Marinette on the ship. Marinette was too busy crying to notice anything.
Marinette just sat there clutching Luka's shirt while crying into it. All she wants to do is cry away all the feelings she has ever had for Adrien, trying to empty herself of it, she didn't want to feel the burden of loving him anymore.
It was just too hard with her secret life, it's bad enough that she can't tell Chat Noir, the one person with whom she trusts her life with, who she is. But having to keep someone else she loves in the dark is too painful. She's not even sure why she wants to allow herself to be near Luka again, it's not like she can tell him either, she doesn't want to hurt him again. But she can't help but be drawn to him. He lets her think and be herself.
After a while Marinette's tears started to slow down and she sagged against Luka's chest feeling exhausted. She didn't want to move or go anywhere, she was tired and Luka was warm and comfortable. Luka saw and felt that she had calmed down, he gently laid her down on the couch and pulled a blanket over her, he went to walk away and she grabbed his hand, "D...Don't go." She said in a broken voice. He looked at her with kindness in his eyes, grabbed his guitar and sat on the floor near her head. He started to strum some notes, it was a lullaby, as he played Marinette fell asleep.
He heard her phone ding nearby, her friends were checking in on her. He grabbed her phone and typed a message to Alya and Marinette's parents about Marinette napping on his family's couch so no one would worry. They all thanked him for the update.
