Friday was here and Deidara was excited but wary of Sasori's coming gift. With little to no actual explanation provided it had really come down to the puppet master saying "We're going out to the bar brat with a nice dinner included."
That served to provide further intrigue and confusion to his bizarre behavior. Sasori hated crowds and though it would be in character for him to tolerate them for Deidara's birthday, the blonde had repeated himself multiple times that a nice dinner didn't have to be out. He even noticed that Sasori had implemented his jutsu to render him temporarily human for the occassion.
'What is he planning?' The blonde finally decided he would find out soon enough and enjoy the night.
It was barely 7:30 and though there were plenty of people milling about, shopping, talking, laughing, going into other bars, the one Sasori led him to looked practically deserted. 'Surely he wasn't just going to bang him in a deserted building. Though the thought in and of itself turned him on a bit.' There was a single light on in the interior but no sign of near the activity that should be present at this time on a weekend. He hesitated a bit at the door. Sasori grabbed his hand in his own warm one. "You'll have a great time, I know it Deidara. Maybe even the best birthday yet." He trailed off quietly. The blonde squeezed his hand back. "It already is danna." He whispered in his ear.
Suddenly the door was yanked in and the two men were ushered in quickly with the door promptly slamming behind them.
"It really is you!" The woman, Sanbimu, Deidara's sister, pulled him into a tight hug as she burst out into tears. "I thought you were dead; I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to find you."
He patted her back and hugged her tightly, his voice thick with emotion. "I thought the same. I tried to find you, years ago, but everything made me think...I'm glad you're alive. I just knew for sure he had killed you. There was so much blood." He trailed off, reliving the horrid memory.
She pulled back just enough to shake her head and look in his face. "No but it was a close shave. He attacked me and managed to cut my leg off. I managed to stab him and escape but fell ill and was unable to return for months."
She examined his face, pushing his hair back slightly. "You look great, but I can tell from your eyes you've endured a lot."
"I'm fine, yeah. That bastard chopped your leg off?!" Anger flooded his system.
She nodded and pulled her left pant leg up, exposing a wooden prosthetic that looked eerily similar to Sasori's puppet creations. "I've had this for years and adjusted well, a lot of patrons don't even notice."
"If he wasn't already dead, I'd kill him for that. My baby sister is all grown up now. I bet you've had to fend off suitors left and right." He joked, shooting a look to Sasori and beckoning him to come closer with his hand. The redhead had been awkwardly standing in the corner to give the siblings time to reacquaint.
He shrugged but complied as Deidara entwined their fingers.
She laughed nervously, "Uh, yeah something like that. Anyways, why don't we find a table? I sent all the bartenders home early but I made your favorite dish and have plenty of bottled drinks here."
The three sat down as Sanbimu ran to the back to bring out a large tray of dango and various types of steamed seafood kebobs.
Deidara used the opportunity they were alone to lean over and kiss Sasori. "Thank you danna, This really has been the best birthday yet."
"Happy birthday, Deidara." He breathed against Deidara's lips as he ran a delicate hand across Deidara's face, committing the warm feeling to memory.
Sanbimu set the large tower of food on the table in front of the two men, the stack of food effectively blocking her view of the very intimate exchange. "Happy birthday aniki."
