(Y/N)'s POV

After our lesson with Lupin, Harry got his Firebolt back good as new, he quickly forgave both Hermione and me, and naturally Ron followed his lead, but unfortunately the peace didn't last long, it seemed Crookshanks had finally done it. Scabbers was missing, the last thing we found of him was a bloody bed sheet, covered in cat hair, ginger cat hair.

Naturally Ron assumed the worst, and while it was very damning evidence, I interrogated both cats, they both claimed to know nothing, but Ron didn't care about my opinion, he refused to talk to Hermione, again. Well that was unless it was a spiteful comment.

But as far as Hermione was concerned Ron had lost Scabbers and was still wrong about Crookshanks, and the cat hadn't conspired to kill him in the first place. I met them in the courtyard after checking in the dorm for the rat.

"I've checked all my robes, no sign of him mate" I offered, he let out a groan. "Beautiful day isn't it?" Hermione beamed at me, I nodded with a smile on my own. "Lovely." I had tried to act as a mediator between the two, but as always, Ron accused me of taking her side.

"Yeah, unless you've been ripped to pieces!" Ron spat. "Ripped to pieces? What are you talking about?" said Harry in confusion, he was still a bit out of the loop, too busy dealing with Quidditch.

"Ronald has lost his rat" said Hermione plainly. "I haven't lost him; your cats have killed him!" Ron all but screamed. I came to the defence of my pet. "Again, I would know if they had, Bones backs up Crookshanks' alibi."

I sighed, "I'm interrogating cats now, how did I get roped into all this?" I thought as Hermione added, "so for the last time. You. Have. Lost. Him." I was a bit irritated Ron had made me look through everything I owned, and still wouldn't believe me. "I can't believe I'm saying this, she's lying!" he spat.

"She is not! I'd know if she was, I'm not an idiot!" I argued back, he muttered something that sounded a lot like "I doubt that" I glared at him and continued "I know my own cat Ron" he scoffed.

"Yeah whatever, you just don't want to admit she helped killed Scabbers, everyone knows you love that cat more than anything. It's weird." Now it was my turn to scoff "Says the bloke who was drooling over a broom not twenty minutes ago" I countered.

We continued to bicker until we made it to the pitch. Where our petty differences were put aside to cheer Harry as he used the Firebolt to absolutely dismantle Ravenclaw at his Quidditch match, sending Gryffindor to the finals, so we were in high spirits.

We went back to the common room for a huge party, Hermione insisted she had too much homework to take a break and join in. "C'mon Hermione, you know you want to..." I said wiggling my eyebrows and closing her book. "This needs to be done by Monday" she argued, "Anyway..." She glanced over at Ron. "He doesn't want me to join in."

"Who cares? He's not your keeper Hermione" I said, snatching her book and holding it above my head, she couldn't reach it even if she jumped for it, she chased me for a minute until she gave in, joining in with the others laughing along and having fun, her argument with Ron forgotten.

After a very disgruntled looking Professor McGonagall had stopped the party at around one in the morning, we all went to bed with full stomachs and happy memories. Sometime in the morning Ron let out a loud cry, I was woken with a start.

I saw a flash of silver in the darkness, immediately I rolled out of bed, I saw a figure standing there, something in hand, I scrambled for my wand from my bedside cabinet, turning back I shouted "Stupefy!" hoping to stop the attacker, waking the others. But the shadow had disappeared as quickly as it had come.

"Black! Sirius Black! With a knife!" said Ron in fright as the others sat up. "Here! Just now! Slashed the curtains! Woke me up!" I rushed to his side, he was fine, but his bed curtain had been torn to pieces.
