James' POV

I had kissed her cheek. During the walk to the bathrooms I had bottled up all of my courage to kiss her. In the last second I had chickened out and kissed her cheek instead of her mouth.

The kiss still made me happy though. I couldn't help but smile while changing into my robes. When I came out of the bathroom I saw that Amanda was waiting for me. She smiled shyly at me which I answered with a full on grin.

"I hope you didn't mind", I told her as I stepped closer to her. Her smile became a bit more confident after my words.

"I didn't mind at all", she told me before taking my hand in hers. Together we walked back to our compartment, both of us smiling like fools. I noticed how her hand was a little bit colder than mine, and it felt nice to hold her hand.

We got back to the compartment and, to my disappointment, Amanda let go of my hand. She was smiling when she stepped inside the small room.

"How long until the we're there?", she asked and sat down as if nothing had happened.

Maybe it was nothing to her. Maybe she had meant that she didn't mind, as if it didn't mean anything. What if that had been what she'd meant?

All my worries disappeared as I sat down and I felt Amanda put her hand in mine again. They were hidden from Roxy and Louis by our robes.

"We'll be there in like twenty minutes", Louis said and then kept on joking around with Roxy. I glanced at Amanda and smiled when I saw that her brown eyes were on me. I had a feeling that it was going to be a good year.

Amanda's POV

The nerves didn't hit me until we stepped onto the carriage that would take us to the school. They seemed to be driven by themselves, which didn't surprise me. I had at some point gotten used to all of the magical things. It was incredible, but not as surprising. After running through a brick wall without getting hurt it was quite easy to accept self-driven carriage.

"What house do you think that you'll be in?", asked Roxy as we left the train station. I thankfully knew what she was talking about. During my visit in Diagon Alley, when I bought what I needed for school, I had purchased a special book. It was called "Hogwarts: A History". I had learned a lot from reading it and I was therefor caught up on how the school worked.

"I don't really know. I guess it would be cool to be in whatever house. If I had to figure it out myself I think I would be in either Slytherin or maybe Gryffindor. I don't know though", I told them, which got me judgmental looks from both Roxy and James. Louis didn't seem to mind my answer.

"Why would you want to be in Slytherin?", asked Roxy, a bit disgusted. I frowned in confuse at her words. What was so wrong about it?

"I'm quite ambitious and resourceful. At least from what others tell me. Why? Shouldn't I want to be there?", I asked them with raised eyebrows.

"Slytherin's are evil", James simply stated. From what I had read in the book about Hogwarts, Slytherins weren't supposed to be evil. I couldn't believe that they had a whole house just for evil witches and wizards. That seemed odd.

"Slytherins aren't evil. It's just that most of the evil witches and wizards have been there. Not all of them are evil, though. It's just something that some people think", Louis explained calmly. Neither Roxy nor James looked like they agreed with Louis. I raised my eyebrows at the two of them. That was the second time that I had seen James have these prejudices. It bothered me a lot. I was very happy that I wasn't sitting next to him at that moment.
