Amanda's POV

"Time to party!", was the first words I heard from my best friend as she entered the Burrow. In many ways she looked the same, but she was also different. The thing that I noticed the most was how she was wearing heels, making her longer. The reason why I noticed it was because Rose rarely used heels. For a short person she rarely wore heels.

"Rose!", I yelled and ran to hug her. As soon as she saw me she hurried towards me. We hugged each other hard. Even though some things might have been different with her, I knew that she was still my Rose Grayson. The same Rose that I had known for so long. The same Rose that knew almost everything about me.

"I can't believe that we haven't seen each other since august! I've missed you so much", Rose sighed into my hair. It was nice to know that I at least had someone from my normal life that cared about me.

"I've missed you too", I told her. It was then that I heard someone clear their throat behind Rose.

"Don't mind me! I'm air", Gwen spoke sarcastically. I broke away from Rose and gave her sister a big embrace. The smile on my lips was genuine as I greeted the older Grayson sister. Having them both stand before me made me feel like I was home.

"London is sick during New Year's Eve! We have to go there! I mean do you remember last year Amanda?", the second after the words had left Rose's mouth she started to laugh her heart out. I myself was too embarrassed to tell her to stop talking. Just the memory made my cheeks turn red. "What happened last New Year's Eve?", asked Roxanne, moving closer to Rose on the bed, my muggle friend Rose not Rose Weasley. Maybe I should call them Rose G. and Rose W.

Our room was quite filled with people. The five beds were occupied by teenagers. On one bed sat Roxanne and Rose G. The second bed was occupied by Rose W. and Molly. Louis and Albus were sitting on the third bed. On the fourth bed was Gwen, Hugo and Lilly sat. James and I were snuggled up on the fifth one. I did not want that many people to know about the most embarrassing moment of my life.

"You shut your mouth, before I smother you in your sleep", I threatened, my voice fully serious and my eyes burning whole into Rose. A small smirk started to form on Rose's lips as she straightened with stubbornness.

"Not if I poison your drink first", Rose threatened back and pursed her lips proudly. I widened my eyes and made sure to show her where it was all going.

"If you say another word about last New Year's Eve I will tell them every detail of last years trip to Paris." A small gasp escaped Rose's lips and in that moment I knew that she would not spill any of my secrets. Even still, Rose opened her mouth to make a comeback at me. Gwen was a little bit quicker. "Let's end this before we have to cover up a murder, shall we? I mean, we should get ready for tonight. It's already getting dark!" No one had any arguments against Gwen's idea. Therefor the boys left and us girls started the long procedure of getting ready.

I was looking really good, and I knew it. The little black dress that I had brought with me was looking just as good as it had done all those months ago. Together with a pair of black heels, newly bought during my trip to London, I could barely stop looking in the mirror. My hair was done in messy curls. With red lipstick and dark eye makeup I knew that James would have a heart attack when he saw me. It also helped that all the other girls told me the exact same thing. "I love my brother, but you look so much better than him", Lilly joked as we made our way down the stairs. Lilly, Albus, Hugo and Rose W. were not going with us to London. We had agreed on them staying with the family for such a festive night. They were also too young to be partying the way we wanted to party. As we stepped of the last step of the stairs I saw James. I could also clearly see that I got the reaction I was expecting. His eyes were wide and he had taken in a big gulp of air in the same moment as he had laid his eyes on me. There was also this look in his huge eyes. It almost looked as if he was staring at a piece of cake.

"Is everyone ready", I asked James as I came up to him with a smirk on my face. Before nodding I could see James swallowing hard. His wordless answer made me smirk even wider.

"Are you ready James?" James nodded once more which made me want to laugh. That was not what I did, though. Instead I took his face in my hands and placed a soft kiss on his lips.

"You're so cute", I told him with a smile before letting go of him and walking of towards the backdoor. The grownups were all in the living room. That was a place we were all avoiding. They didn't exactly know where we were going, neither did they know that we were going anywhere. That was why we also needed Albus, Rose, Lilly and Hugo to stay. We needed people to lie for us.

Even though they had agreed to stay at home, they had not agreed to lie for us. That had costed all of us. A lot. At least they agreed to cover for us. That was a huge relief, even though it had costed us.

"Let's go", Roxanne said as she saw James and I come towards the group. Everyone was looking incredible and I knew just by looking at us that we were going to have a great time.

"Are you sure that your friends said that we could come?", I asked Gwen before we stepped inside, just to be sure. She smiled and without answering she opened the door to the house infront of us. I took that as a yes.

The party was incredible. I danced more then what I should have, especially since my heels were killing my feet. James was dancing with me all the time, and when we were not dancing we were kissing. It was nice to just let lose. I felt free. It was like flying.

The music was pumping through the house and James was with me by the stairs. Our lips were pressed together, and then his lips were at my neck. In one of hands I was holding a cup with some drink in it. My other hand was in James' hair. I brought his head back up and kissed his lips, hard.

"This has been the best Christmas holiday ever", I mumbled as James nibbled at my ear. My words were a hundred percent true. Even though I had expected a quite lousy holiday, it had turned out to be something amazing. James and I had spent a lot of time together, and I had also spent a lot of time together with my friends. James had told me that he loved me, and I had said it back. I had survived easily without my parents, something I couldn't have imagined. It had been different than previous years, but it had been very nice. The pain that my mother had given me had not ruined anything, which was a big relief.

"It really was", James agreed as he started kissing down my neck again. I smiled before grabbing his hand, that was on my waist, and leading him back towards the dance floor. One of my favorite songs had started playing and I knew that I wanted to dance to it.

James' POV

Amanda looked so free the whole night. It was as if she had never experienced any struggles in life. She just danced with a big smile on her lips and without any worries. When I had first seen her coming down the stairs, I had been amazed by how good she had looked. It had been obvious that she had loved my reaction by the big smirk on her lips.

I had also enjoyed myself during the night. Even though I had never heard the songs and I didn't know that many people at the party, I got to spend a lot of time with my girlfriend. I also got to spend a lot of time snogging her. I had not had anything against that.

The whole Christmas holiday had been such a relaxation. I hadn't worried about the messenger, and the messenger had left Amanda and me alone. It had been such a relief. It even made me believe that things could be over. That we wouldn't have to worry about the messenger at all anymore. Those thoughts gave me energy, energy to keep on walking happily. It was just what I needed. It was the energy I needed to be able to go through the rest of the year at Hogwarts.
