James' POV
I could only hear her screams. They echoed around the cold basement. I had no idea what felt worse, seeing the torture when it happened or hearing her screams of pain. There was no relief as one might have expected in not seeing her torture happening. It was only worry and my wild imagination going to dark places.
The worst part about being stuck in the basement, with no ability what so ever to help Amanda as she screamed for help, was that I could not help but realize that it was all my fault. If I just hadn't found her interesting, if I had just left her alone she would have been safe. Then maybe neither of us would have been there. We could have both been safe.
My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of the basement door opening. My head whipped towards the sound and not much later I saw Amanda stumbling down the stairs. Her hands were gaining support from the walls and I saw how her legs were shaking as she tried to walk towards me. Just when she was a couple of steps away her knees gave out and she fell to the floor. That was when the first sob left her lips.
"Amanda", I sighed as I made my way towards her. My voice was as weak as my body and every muscle ached as I made my way towards her. I needed to reach her though. I couldn't just let her sit there in pain and misery.
"We need to get away, James. We just have to. I can't imagine staying here any longer, I'm too afraid. Please tell me you have some plan, no matter how ridiculous to take us out of here", she spoke in a voice that was both desperate and restrained. Even though tears were pouring down her cheeks and sobs occasionally left her she didn't want to show her sadness more than necessary. All I wanted to do was say the comforting words she wanted to hear, but I had absolutely nothing. Before I could even open my mouth I saw realization hit her features.
"But we can figure something out. We have to!", she spoke with slightly widened eyes. I swept my arms around her and felt how she sagged against my chest in exhaustion. I could feel how we both needed each other in that moment, but what we needed more was a way out.

The sound of a loud bang woke me up with a jolt. Loud footsteps sounded as someone rushed down the stairs towards Amanda and me. Amanda's eyes opened tiredly and the energy and surprise I had felt because of noise was not visible on her face. I moved my vision from her to the person who just came into view. It was Dominic, and he did not look happy.
"Get up! Both of you get up right now!", his voice ordered and he stomped towards us to make us move quicker. Because of Amanda's condition she couldn't move fast enough and Dominic roughly pulled her to her feet. Then he proceeded in dragging her towards the stairs. Since I didn't want Amanda to be alone with the psychopath I was quick to follow the two.
Just halfway up the stairs I could hear yells and spells being cast. It made me both curious and hopeful. I wanted to know who made Dominic frustrated and almost afraid enough to come and get the two of us. To me it made the most sense that the people must've been our people. No one else would care about Amanda and me. That hopefulness was basically confirmed after just taking a few steps into the corridor. The first person that I saw was my uncle, Ron. He was fending off some strange man I had never seen before but I assumed that the man was on Dominic and Pandora's side.
"Come on!", Dominic barked before grabbing my collard and dragging me behind him and Amanda. Apparently he didn't want us stopping, or getting seen by anyone we know. As he dragged us through the corridor I could hear that it wasn't just Ron there to rescue Amanda and me, from the sound of it fights were going on all around the house.
"There they are!", I heard a quite young voice speak. I turned towards it as I was pushed through the corridor. I couldn't see who had spoken and in the midst of all the chaos I hadn't been able to tell who it was. Before I could take in much more we turned the corner and that was when we really were met with the fight.

Amanda's POV
Every single muscle in my body ached. If Dominic hadn't been draggin me with him I would have possible already fallen to the floor. I felt exhausted. The worst part was that I wasn't hurt in a way that you could see. I felt tired because of the mental struggle and my muscles ached because I had tensed up my muscles. There wasn't anything that was actually wrong with me, I was just tired beyond belief. Had I actually been hurt I might've had energy at least.
"Come on! Hurry up!", Dominic told both James and me with irritation. He was dragging the two of us down the corridor and at the same time trying to make sure no one noticed that we were the ones being dragged past them.
Sure, I'm just going to make all of the pain and exhaustion disappear. No problem!, I thought to myself with sarcasm. I would have actually said it, had it not been that I wasn't sure that my voice would be able to make every single word audible. Instead I oughted with a look of annoyance, which he of course didn't see since his eyes weren't watching me. He knew I was weak, hopefully to weak to do anything. James and everyone else around us were more of a threat. I wish I could have said that it wasn't true, but it was.
"James! Amanda!", I heard a voice yell, a strangely familiar and young voice yelled. It took me only a few seconds to realize that it had been Louis that had been speaking. When I glanced towards James I saw that he too had heard the voice of his cousin and he wished he could have yelled back an answer, but with Dominic present it could result in something bad happening.
"Stop!", another voice yelled, a much older one. I knew I had heard it before and that was how I knew it probably was one of James' relatives. Which one it was I couldn't exactly tell though. Dominic at least looked less than happy that people had discovered us. As we turned a corner that brought us to the staircase I saw how James' father and some other people were already waiting there. I wasn't the only one who noticed. Dominic started moving towards the other way as he put James and me in front of him as protection. No one dared to fire a single spell when there was such a high risk that we would get hit.
"Stop right where you are!", James' father yelled out in controlled rage. Dominic suddenly stopped and I noticed we were by the wall, well by the window but at the end of the corridor. There were five people in front of us, one of them being Mr. Potter and another one being Louis. I had no idea what the others were called.
"All of you get back", Dominic called out with his arms around mine and James' throats. I glanced to my side in hopes of that I would be able to see James' reaction. He simply looked serious but a little bit afraid of what would happen. I was feeling scared and frustrated that I couldn't fight. I wished I had had the power to get us out of the situation, but I really couldn't.
Suddenly I felt the grip on me loosen and I turned around in confusion, without really thinking about my actions. I got to see how Dominic in a swift motion opened the widow and then he had moved his grip and grabbed my arm. I was stuck again. I cursed myself for not moving when I had been able to.
James suddenly moved quickly and got out of Dominic's grip. I was surprised but tried to do the same but the grip was too firm. Before I could do much to stop it, Dominic had moved so that the two of us were standing on the edge of the window. I saw how James raised his arm and how he was about to grab me.
"I forget, do kittens have wings?", Dominic then suddenly spoke before then taking another step back, straight into the nothingness. A scream left my lips just as James suddenly got ahold of my hand. The sudden stop got Dominic to release his grip on me, but the problem was just that James had only been able to grab my fingers and his grip disappeared too. My eyes widened and I fell. There was nothing to catch me and I believed I was quite high up.
"Amanda!", James screamed and I saw his distressed face when he saw me closing in on the ground. Not even a scream was able to leave my lips until I hit the ground and pain filled my whole body. Thankfully I only felt it for a second until I slipped into unconsiousne
