Any fans of the Wingfeather Saga will immediately know what that title means. :3

For those who haven't read the books, horned hounds are a fictional creature from the world of Aerwiar in the Wingfeather Saga. They are, quite simply, hounds with horns—usually depicted as a single, rhinoceros-like protrusion on their foreheads. They are aggressive, cunning hunters, and very deadly.

Both versions of the books provided an illustration, shown below.

I found both of them rather ugly (no offense to the artists, they simply aren't my taste), so yesterday, after sketching a perturbed wolf as a warm-up, I designed and drew my own hounds

They are more wolflike than doggish, with thick manes of fur and a less pronounced muscles, but they are slender and have a thick but short and smooth coat of fur, as well as a face lacking a ruff and large, upright ears

They have no tails, and thicker fur on their rumps and (less so) elbows. The horn is much larger, but is lightweight and very sharp.

I feel like these would be more suited for a life in the forest full of toothy cows, cave blats, and quill diggles than a thin-furred, large dog, as they are depicted in the illustrations. Of course, this is just my opinion and version.
