Walking down the hall, I felt eyes following my every step. I had never felt half of their stares before. I had felt the other many times before.
Something was off.
Jotaro was nowhere to be seen that afternoon, his familiar, fluffy scent missing from the air as I strode through the stuffy hallways.
Hiroshi was missing too.
"What the fuck is going on?" I growled toward the audience surrounding me. My feet paused in their path, my eyes scanning the many faces staring frustratingly silently. "I asked-!"
"They're in the courtyard," a quiet voice suddenly responded. My ears twitched at the sound. I didn't think to look for the source of the voice; my feet began to sprint on their own.
They were fighting.
What else would they be doing? Hiroshi was extremely possessive, and he must've noticed what we had done by then. My heart was racing, my mind swirling in an endless spiral of overwhelming worry.
Because... I knew Jotaro would lose.
As the courtyard came into view, both scents filled my lungs with their raging fury. As I saw their faces, panting and bloodied, my blood ran so very cold. I kicked open the door, shivering as the frozen spring air stung at my skin.
Hiroshi's fists were clenched, flying toward my mate without hesitation. His scowl, his teeth grinding uncontrollably against each other, his veins bulging in every limb of his being... he was livid in that frightening moment.
Jotaro was already losing; anyone could see that much. He was barely standing, yet he continued to fold his fists together firmly.
I launched myself forward, ramming my entire body's weight into the Alpha. My skin shivered at the unpleasant contact, Hiroshi and I tumbling to the ground in a bundle of confusion and rage. As our movements paused, my body laying atop his for the shortest instant, I was lifted by the collar of my shirt into the thick air. Jotaro pulled me back so violently yet so carefully behind him. He didn't hesitate to approach the confused Hiroshi, now laying below him.
"Don't touch him," I demanded, returning to my place between the two raging creatures instantly. I jabbed my finger at his chest as he continued to advance forward. "That's enough, Jotaro. You won't win." He swiped my finger away, scowling past my commanding features toward Hiroshi, who had already begun to stand once again.
"Get away from him, Y/n," Hiroshi muttered behind me, wiping a drooling line of blood from his chin in annoyance. "He started it."
"What the fuck?" I questioned, the sides of my mouth dropping in a laughable disbelief. "Are you five?" I didn't even turn my head, spitting at the Alpha in a raging annoyance. "I know exactly what happened."
He took a quick step forward, only reaching out when I finally tilted my head his way. His lips trembled, and his teeth ground together visibly in a pathetic attempt to contain his fury.
"Get over yourself, Hiroshi," I growled, my hand slowly lifting itself toward my trembling mate ever so slightly. I noticed Jotaro's eyes find the movement and straighten as the smallest contact occurred. "You told me you could do that. Do I have to take care of everything myself?"
I dropped my hand just as it grazed his fingers, turning completely toward the arrogant creature in disgust.
"I'm always down to fight."
His foot launched forward, indenting my stomach with its unrestrained strength. I flew backward, my back landing harshly against the wet grass. Did he have a death wish?
"If I can beat Jotaro," he began, cracking his neck menacingly to the side. "I sure as hell can beat you."
I grumbled from the horrible pain, my lungs rejecting any air as I glared at the Alpha. Desperately trying to regain my original state, I clenched my jaw. I knew this would happen. He was putting my being an Omega before anything else.
"I guess your words were meaningless," I spat, scowling at him as he returned the stubborn glare. "I've misunderstood-"
Suddenly, his knees were on either side of me, his hands grabbing my collar and pulling me violently toward him. "Fuck you," he growled, his grip tightening as I grasped his arm furiously. "You said he could just throw you away once you were safe!" He shook me vehemently back and forth, his arms trembling as they forced themselves to keep from striking me. "You said you didn't trust him!"
"Hiroshi," I uttered, digging my nails into the flaming skin of his arm.
He stopped his annoying movements and glared at me then, his eyes a deep red in the bright, burning sun. "He said he would still leave you."
I titled my head, my brow arching in a calm confusion. "What?"
He looked down at his hands shamefully, his grip loosening every so slightly. "He said he's still gonna leave you when everything's over."
"That's the plan," I muttered, lifting his hands from my shoulders in frustration. "What the fuck is this about?"
"You'll die," he spat, his arms dropping to his sides uselessly. His eyes continued to glare at me with a burning rage. But it wasn't rage that I sensed. "If he leaves you, you'll die, yet you trusted him. He's gonna leave you! You're gonna fucking die! Y/n! Why did you trust him?! I told you, I-!"
His horribly painful expression suddenly faded into that of a calm surprise as a small smile formed on my lips. I shook my head slowly, letting out a small sigh as I eyed Jotaro silently. He was listening quite intently, watching in rage as Hiroshi continued to tower over me. He trembled, his fists tight by his sides. It wasn't because Hiroshi had struck a fight. That much was clear as I gently tapped Hiroshi's cheek with my finger. His pheromones raged through the burning air. His teeth ground together, a force strong enough to break the bones much weaker than his passionate fury.
"I thought you were sharp. Guess I was wrong." Both Alphas looked at me in utter confusion. I couldn't help but let my lips widen their playful smile. I held my cool hand to my heated cheek in a growing embarrassment. "Jotaro can't leave me anymore."
