"SGSA?" I grumbled, dropping my head on my desk without any restraint. "The year just started, though."

Jotaro didn't pay any attention to my whines, simply taking notes on the matter at hand. We were going to finally take this year's Second-Gender Specified assessment. This test was brutally important for your life past high school. Your score affected the college you entered more than anything, where you could work, live. If you scored high enough, companies and colleges would even approach you.

It was impossible to cheat; they changed the assessment every single year.

"This is just a reminder that you'll take the assessment this Friday. I'm sure most of you are aware of this," Saito Sensei grumbled as he looked around at the bored students he knew would disappoint him in the upcoming life-changing event. "I would also like to remind you that, because you are all classed as elites amid all Alphas and second-genders, your assessment will be extremely difficult. On a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest difficulty, you'll be in the hospital by sundown if you aren't fully present while taking the assessment."

"Wait, it's a physical test?" a classmate alarmingly asked, sitting up abruptly in his seat at the thought.

"The Alphas in this room have an average IQ ranging far above those roaming the halls and sitting pathetically in their useless classrooms," he stated, pointing knowing at the door to the room with a confident glare. "I won't insult your friends, but I'm sure you know it well. You are statistically better than they are. Therefore, your limits will be tested to the absolute brim while taking this assessment. Some of you may not complete it, but, because you are in this class, it will not be as detrimental as it would be if you weren't. You'll be average, but so what? As for the rest of you, no matter your score on this assessment, your futures will be filled with opportunity and..." He suddenly looked at me, our eyes locking as he spoke his encouraging speech. "...freedom to change what the world is now."

Scratch everything, Reader. Everything I was told and warned about this assessment was suddenly wiped from my hands. An eerie silence fell upon my brutish classmates... and I glared at the man who'd caused it. He knew.

-

"Sensei," I began, my voice quieter than a dropping pin as I watched each student leave the room. Jotaro eyed me for only an instant as he calmly walked out. "What should I do if they find out?"

He was shuffling some papers on his desk, his hair hiding the eyes that looked thoughtfully at my fidgeting hands. "You should run."

"They won't understand, will they? They'll kill me... right?" I asked under my breath, feeling the heaviest weight slowly creep onto my chest as I awaited his response. "I saw a lady who was just like me, and she said they would."

"L/n." He placed his things down hesitantly on the surface, his orbs that were always so angry showing a gentleness to them then. "If they find out, you need to run. Don't explain anything. Don't wait for them to confirm their suspicions. If they have suspicions, they'll put the law before your life."

"Have I broken a law? Aren't they just trying to hide weaknesses from this evolved race?" I questioned, my hands suddenly forming tight fists as I continued. "I thought about it a lot. The lady said it first occurred during a war between humans and... us, but... I wonder if the story she told me is even true."

He looked at the open door to the classroom and shook his head subtly. "The park a few blocks east of the school." It was all he'd said as he packed his things into his bag. I simply left. He knew things. I would soon know things.

"It'll be odd if we're seen, but our conversation being overheard would be much more harmful," he sighed, dropping himself onto the bench I sat on with a reluctant glare in his dark eyes. "The story she told you's probably true," he informed. I nodded only slightly in relief.

"Do you know it?" I asked curiously.

     "I do."

"How? If they don't want it getting out, how do you know it?" I was eager to know. He was an ordinary school teacher, and yet he held such illegal knowledge.

"The cause of this whole thing wrote in a diary. His friends and enemies wrote it all down. Physical things like these were easy to get rid of, but they were discovered by the wrong people. People who believed in spreading truth rather than concealing what they didn't like."

A small breeze passed by as he paused in his quiet and gentle explanation. It was the calmest I'd ever seen the man, and it was the most relief I'd ever felt in his presence. "Thank you, sir," I whispered. "I guess, since all of the sources lined up, they must be true. It means I can fix this mistake by doing exactly what he did."

"No," he demanded, the angry intensity in his glare returning so suddenly. "Your body is weaker than his was. I think this lady you talked to forgot to mention the fact that he practically died before he was stronger than before. If you do what he did, you won't live to be an Alpha again."

My teeth grinned tightly together as I trembled at the thought. "I'm going to die if I don't do anything," I choked, looking away from his demanding eyes quickly.

"L/n," he growled, grabbing my chin and forcing his face back into my vision. I snatched his wrist with an unsupervised strength I knew he could still handle.

"How strong was he?" I questioned, dropping his hand with a determined scowl as my mind raced impatiently for answers. "How strong do I have to be? I'll do anything. I'll be an Alpha again!"

"Be quiet," he commanded, looking around subtly as I trembled in a quickly growing anger.

"If I'm not strong enough, why am I in your class? Was that speech just some empty words of encouragement?" I growled, standing abruptly as I felt my control over my fists run quite thin.

"L/n," he began, looking up at my scrunched features with a calm expression that annoyed me to no end. "You're at the top of the top class, but you're not strong enough."

I took a deep breath, feeling my face burn with fury from his words. "He was an Omega, but I'm practically an Alpha yet not stronger than he was?!"

He stood then, rolling his shoulders back with a sigh as he began to leave all so suddenly. "Don't do it, L/n. You won't be discovered. I'll help you personally hide in any situation, but do not do it." He glanced back at me, his eyes full of both worry and demand as he walked away. "I think this world could use the strength you worked your ass off for."

"Sensei," I called out, stopping his calm feet on the damp afternoon grass. "How did you find out?"

He was silent for a worryingly long moment before he let out a small sigh. "If you and Kujo weren't both Alphas... anyone would be able to see your connection. How should I say this...?" He turned his head around to see my wide, confused eyes gazing at him hopefully. "The Omega side to you appears more than ever when interacting with him."

"You noticed that? Do others notice?" I asked with a growing alarm.

"No, but I noticed it after I smelled your pheromones," he admitted, letting a small teasing smile form on his usually harsh lips. "Your classmates have never smelled an Omega before, so you'll be fine."

I sighed, glaring at the man as he began to walk again. "Thanks, Sensei."

"Yeah," he grumbled. "Just don't do it."
