Rebel Friar

CHAPTER 22

It was Friday afternoon the court was full with the Friar family and the Matthews family. Topanga Matthews was standing with the Friar family and looking at the other side of the stand with Joshua Matthews sitting with handcuffs on and a few bruises on his face and a black eye and busted lip. He looked scared and tense he was rocking himself back and forth. Riley and Maya sat on the side with Joshua although what he did was wrong, he still didn't deserve adult time. Cory was with his wife and he looked over at the girls and gave them a serious look with a little worry. He was worried that they had made a mistake sitting over on Joshua side. They should be with Lucas, after all they are his friends.

"ALL RISE" The judge said. Then they had a few questions for Joshua and he answered a little tensely but truthful. Topanga asked him questions she already knew the answer to but she had Lucas's family counting on her so she asked him what any other lawyer would ask.

"How do you plead young man?"The judge asked.

Joshua stood up and looked at Maya and turned back around. "I just want to say I'm sorry to the Friar family. I know what I did was wrong. Sometimes you do stupid things for the person you love." He looked at Maya and she looked at him then put her head down. "Lucas for me was, somewhat a threat and my ego got I the way. I'm really, really sorry. That's all."
"Mr. and Mrs. Friar do you have anything to say to Mr.Matthews." Topanga asked.
"Yes," Mr. Friar said. "My wife and I are torn and we have forgiven you but what you did, it really hurt me to my heart. My son my never wake to see daylight again. But I digress, you are still a young man and our family is not about revenge but forgiveness so whatever happens, we will not look at you in shame as a horrible young man, but as a young man who made a horrible decision.
"Very well then. Through jury settles you as GUILTY and you are sentenced to 15 months in juvy since you still in child age rate." The judge exclaimed.
Joshua nodded and was escorted out by two police officers.
"Sorry Maya. At least we still can spend Christmas together." Riley said to Maya who was in a sad trance.
"I lost the two boys that made me feel safe, and they were completely different but that's what made them so special and having two different sides of a heart is one thing but knowing which side to choose is another. And now I have no sides to choose from anyway." Maya was closed up yet wide open.
"Like Farkle!" She she said to her self. Then she turned to Maya. "Farkle has us two the completely opposite girls but he loves us because we give him different sights of the world like on that book my dad gave us with her husband she was bright and sunny without him she was as plain as it gets. I bet she would have survived if she still had that smile in her pocket even through the hard times. Farkle needs us, I need to call him and see where he is."
"Riley I don't even think he's still in New York."
"Well then we better find a boxcar to jump on..........."
