MAYA'S CHOICE (PART 1)

  Topanaga, Riley, and Maya were all on the subway on their way to the hospital to visit Lucas. It had been 2 weeks since he's been in the ER getting tested and since they had told Topanga everything that has been going on. Topanga was sitting down and Maya and Riley were standing holding on to the same pole they were holding onto when they met Lucas.

  "Riles," Maya said as she looked at Riley.

 "Yeah Maya?'' Riley asked.

 "Look," Maya replied pointing to the seat where they met Lucas. "Remember when I pushed you over to Lucas?"

 "Yeah, and remember when you went over to Lucas and dated him for like 8 seconds?"

 "I had my fair share with him," Maya joked.

 "Maya, when we see him, what happens? What does this mean for you know, all of us?"

 "I don't know, I guess I'll have to decide between Josh or Lucas." Maya got anxiety just thinking about it. She wasn't ready to let Joshua nor Lucas go. But she knew that she had to decide between the two.

 "Maya, just know that whoever you choose, you'll always be my best friend." 

 "I know."

   After being on the subway train for 3 hours they finally got off and walked to the hospital. They all sat in the waiting room until Corey Matthews walked out of the hospital room. 

  "Lucas is ready to see you." He said.

  Riley and Maya looked at each other and nodded. 

   "Lets go."

     They went into the hospital room and sitting up with a bandage rapped around his head, was Lucas. He looked at Riley and Maya and smiled. It seemed like years since they'd seen each other. Christmas was in two days and everyone was happen to know Lucas would be there for it. Riley hugged Lucas.

  "Lucas we missed you so much, right Maya?"

  Maya hesitated to speak, she felt like she was was gonna throw up and tears started to form in her eyes. Maya wanted to say something but couldn't get her mouth to move. Her throat felt like it was clogged with bricks and her legs got shaky. Maya ran out of the hospital room and tried to get her head cleared. Riley was about to go later her but Topanga stopped her and went to Maya instead. 

 Topanga saw Maya in the hall and walked up to her.

  "Maya! What's wrong? I thought you wanted to see Lucas."

  "I thought I did, but when I saw I melted."

   "Does this have anything to do with Josh?"

   "I just feel guilty that's all. If it weren't for me Josh wouldn't be in jail right now and Lucas wouldn't be in the hospital. Riley wouldn't be cutting her wrists, and you wouldn't have had to choose work over family. Its all my fault."

  "Maya because if you, Riley fell into Lucas's arms. Because of you Riley isn't a little girl singing to herself all alone on her bay window. You may feel like you do nothing but wrong to the world, but you changed my daughters life and I am forever in your debt. I promise you that somebody out there loves and appreciates you more than you know. And I know you're torn between Lucas and Josh but I want you to know that they both would be lucky to have you."

  "Thank you Mrs.Matthews, I've always thought of you as a second mother. I know that things have been rough but, I'm happy to have someone like you to look up to."

  Maya and Topanga hugged and Maya went back in the hospital room and saw Riley and Corey sitting next to Lucas on  two wooden brown chairs. 

 "Mom, dad, I think we should leave these two alone." Riley exclaimed. The Matthews left the hospital room and while leaving Topanga winked at Maya and Maya winked back.

  It was now just Lucas and 

  "Hey Maya," Lucas said.

 "Hey Lucas," Maya said walking slowly toward Lucas.

"How have you been?"

"Not gonna lie, I've been doing pretty horrible."

 "Haven't been doing so good myself. Being in a comma for 4 weeks puts a toll on you. I can't even feel below my waist."

 "I'm sorry Lucas. For everything."

 "Its okay, you just got caught in the mix. I know that you would never purposely get yourself in this type of situation."

 "What if I did?"

"What do you mean Maya?

"What if I fell in love on purpose?"
