After champion

I fell asleep on day's shoulder. It's really comfortable actually. This time i had a dream.

I was in lake sector. I was eleven years old. I was not the prodigy but i was just some random street girl. War was beginning against the colonies and they got all the kids rallied up.

"Okay kids listen up. All you guys have to do is kill the enemy understood!! You guys are all loyal to the republic and must risk your lives to protect it!! Anyone not loyal?!" One kid raises their hand.
"Ahh smart guy eyy. Well since you aren't loyal might as well eliminate you now since we don't know what funny business you might do." The kid looks terrified and before we can all come to conclusion a gun is raised to his head and he's out.

"Now anyone else not loyal to the republic!!!" We all shake our heads.
"Huh some kind of elector letting us fight." Some kid beside me says
"You said it. I can't believe they're gonna let us fight untrained. The republic doesn't stand a chance like this." We smile at each other
"Hey what's your name?" The boy says curiously.
"My name's june. What about you?"i ask
"I'm daniel but you can call me day." We shake hands and smile.
"Alright maggots ready to fight!?" Some if us shake our heads.
"Well you better be because there's no going back!"

We grab our guns and wait for the signal. i examen the area we are in. Looks pretty easy. Any kid my size could probably fit in between the cracks and hide well. we hear an explosion and we all run forward. Some of us to fight and sone of us to get it over with and others to hide. I run behind a building and pray to whatever god to keep me and my brother safe. I shoot a guy to my left as he runs towards me. He falls back and before he even hits the ground he's dead. I look amazed yet scared. The boy names day comes next to me.

"How did it feel?" i look confused at him
"How did what feel?"
"You know shooting him?"
"It was weird. You know taking away someones life. But it felt awesome at the same time yet i'm scared." I look at day.
"Don't worry you got me. Me and you together. Pinky promise."
We cross each others pinky
"Pinky promise."

I wake up after that. It's funny yet cute how in my dream we still meet. I wonder if he really does believe in pinky promise too. I look at the time we have one hour left on the plane. We should land there at eleven pm. I look over at day and he's leaning against the wall. Nat's on the other side sleeping on his shoulder. He looks like such a little kid. I wonder if he has any siblings or anything. The co pilot comes out and sees me
"Good you're awake. I was going to ask if you need anything you know water food."
"Can i have some water a banana and an apple?" She nods and goes to a cabinet.
"Here you go."
"Thanks" i take the apple and banana. Even if it's not my favorite choice of food i have to keep up my energy. I can't eat sweets or feel dehydrated. If they're gonna put me in a cell i'll be in there for a long time i'm guessing.
I start to chew on my apple. I ask if they have salt and spread some on there as well. Nothing good like a salty and sour apple. I drink my water and eat my banana. I throw them away and lean against day again.
He wakes up and looks at me.
"Enjoy your sleep?" He tries not to move a lot when he notices nat is resting on his shoulder.
"You bet i did. It was different." He smiles

We look over at nat who is sound asleep. "Do you think he has any sibling?"
"I don't know. He's only talked about his parents and susie"
"Well if he does we have to find them."
"Yeah let's hope he does." June says in a whisper
"Well it doesn't matter he's part of our family now" i say.
Day nods in agreement.
Since the two days i have known him i have gotten to know him more and more. He trusts us a lot with all this or else he wouldn't have told us any of this and he wouldn't have come along with us either. He had a choice to stay back in the republic yet he chose to come along. I lean back on day and we talk for a little. Not much just how our lives were over the past years and how somethings have changed too.
