Monday quickly came. She hadn't heard from Mike all weekend. She was disappointed, she thought they had really hit it off that day. Maybe it was all in her mind. He probably saw her as an immature girl. Maybe he wanted someone with more experience.

She pushed all those thoughts aside as she got ready for her first day. She had gone shopping with her mother for work clothes. She picked a navy blue skirt with the matching jacket and a white long sleeve blouse. She did her make up and pulled her hair into a high ponytail. She was tired, she had barely slept thinking about Mike. She didn't want to text him or call him, plus Patrice told her guys didn't like that, it would make her seem needy. And then dreading having to see Landon and working next to him everyday.

She got in her car and drove to the firm. It was still early when she arrived, there was no traffic. As she got into the elevator she thought about Mike again. Why couldn't she stop thinking about him? She arrived at reception and another girl she remembered from the interviews was there waiting. "Hi, I'm Casey." The girl came forward to introduce herself. Alice took her hand and shook it.

"I'm Alice, nice to meet you. So, it's only us so far?"

"As far as I can tell, yes." She said as the elevator doors opened and two guys walked in. "Hi, I'm Casey." She told them as they introduced themselves. One of the guys was named Trevor, she remembered him from her journalism class and the other one was named Javier. The four of them waited together.

It was almost seven and Landon wasn't there. Weird, Landon could be a lot of things, but he was always punctual. Specially for this, he wouldn't want to be late and cause a bad impression. Keith walked out into reception towards them. "Hi, welcome guys. Are you excited? I bet you are. So, I have Casey, Trevor, Alice and Javier. I'm missing one. Landon. Has anyone seen him?" They looked at each other and shook their heads. "Okay, well, I don't usually do this, but I'm in a good mood. I'm going to give him a couple of extra minutes. You guys wait for me here, I'll be right back."

Alice's conscience started telling her to call Landon. Stop being so petty. Maybe he overslept. You should call him. It doesn't mean you guys are getting back together. You're just helping his future. You would want someone to help you out if this happened to you. She smacked her forehead as Casey gave her a questionable look. "Excuse me." She said, stepping aside and taking out her phone. She dialed Landon's number. It went straight to voicemail. That is weird, his phone is never off. After the beep she decided to leave him a message. "Landon, it's Alice. I'm here at Thomas and Clark, and you are really late. That's not you. They are giving you some extra minutes to get here. If you're on your way just ignore this and I'll see you when you get here. Goodbye."

After a couple of minutes, Keith came out and called them into an office. "I see Mr. Rogers is a no show. That's too bad. He missed a great opportunity." Keith said as he asked them to take a seat on a round table. "In front of you is the employee pamphlet. Go through it and sign it accordingly. If you have any questions let me know. After we are done with this we go get your credentials and then I'll show you around before you are divided into two teams. Who you are paired with would be your companion and colleague during the whole internship. You would work together and help each other throughout this journey. I'll let you work on your contracts." He said, leaving the room.

All morning was spent signing papers. After that, Keith took them to the first floor where their pictures were taken and each received their id cards. After getting their credentials they went back to the fifth floor and walked past reception to the back offices. There, John, Gina and Matt were waiting in the conference room. "Welcome." Said Matt. "How are you doing so far?" He said waiting on the responses. "We are missing one."

"Yes, Landon Rogers. We tried calling him but no answer." Keith told him.

"His loss then, he was too cocky." John said laughing.
