Chapter 9

As she drove back to the dorms she couldn't stop thinking about that kiss. Her legs still trembled. Her heart kept thumping. What a kiss! Landon only used to give her quick pecks and the only times they did make out, he would just shove his tongue inside her mouth and slober all over her. She can't believe she told Mike she was still a virgin. He needed to know he wasn't dealing with a sexually experienced girl. It's not that she didn't want to. But Landon really wanted her to wait until they were married. Every time she brought up the subject or tried to initiate something he would call her a slut. So she lost all interest. Until now. She didn't know what came over her. Feeling Mike so close to her. His mouth in hers as his tongue explored her mouth.

As she drove by Landon's dorm she decided to stop. She walked up to his room and knocked. Jeremy, Landon's roommate, opened the door. "Hey, Jer. Is Landon here?"

"No, he left last night for a jog and never came back."

"Are you serious? Maybe he stayed with a friend."

"Since you broke up with him, he hasn't been seeing anybody. He really wants to win you back."

"It's too late for that. It is weird because today was his first day at the firm and he never showed up."

"He was really excited about it. I've been calling him but it goes straight to voicemail."

"Same here. Well, if you do hear something or see him tell him to give me a call." She said, walking away. She headed to her room, where Patrice was waiting for her.

"Girl, I was about to call the police. Where have you been?"

"After work, I had a date."

"A date, huh? And with whom was this date?"

"Mike! He showed up at work. Apparently he had an emergency back home and had to go there over the weekend. That's why I didn't hear from him. And to make it up to me, we went out to eat."

"And how was it? Details!"

"It was wonderful, we talked about our childhoods. He's so sweet and charming. And after he walked me to my car, he grabbed me and gave me the most passionate amazing kiss ever. He left me breathless."

"Making out already? That's a bit too fast, don't you think? Specially for you."

"What are you saying? I'm not a prude. He said he's been wanting to kiss me since he first saw me."

"I didn't mean anything by it. Just be careful. You don't have any sexual experience and this guy seems to be moving too fast."

"I told him."

"Why would you do that?"

"I didn't want him getting any ideas. So he could know that I was taking this slow."

"How did he react?"

"He was surprised, after I've been with Landon for so long. But he understood and apologized for being so forward. Then he gave me a soft kiss." She said, touching her lips and smiling.

"Alice, I want you to be careful."

"Patrice, you are out with a different girl every night. What's wrong with me having some fun with one guy?"

"We don't know this guy, Alice! He came out of nowhere. There's something fishy about it. I'm sorry."

"Can't you just be happy for me? I feel happy, excited. I feel like I'm on the clouds." She said, extending her arms and throwing herself on the bed.

"Well, get off that cloud. Just be careful. Don't want you going falling hard for this dude and getting your heart broken."

"Thank you for worrying. You're a great friend. But I think you're wrong about Mike. He's the real deal. Well. I'm going to go shower and finish the paper for class."
